Suzy glanced at Charlotte after hearing Allen’s words. Though she remained silent, a shadow of gloom flickered in her eyes. 

Noticing Suzy’s gaze, Charlotte furrowed her brows. “What? Are you starting to doubt me again? Who did I do all these for?” 

Her tone grew sharper as she went on, “Lisa betrayed you once, and there’s no telling she won’t do it again. As far as I’m concerned, anyone who’s hurt you doesn’t deserve at second chance!” 

Charlotte let out a bitter laugh. “Suzy, this isn’t the first time. Back when we met at the Goodwin family, you looked at me with the same suspicion.

your aunt, the only family you have left in this world. You can doubt anyone, but never me. Haven’t you always asked me why I never got married?” 

Her expression grew more sorrowful. “I always told you it was because I hadn’t found the right person. But I’m lying. I didn’t get married because of you. I want to protect you, to help you get revenge. You mean everything to me, but all you ever do is keep doubting me… 

Charlotte’s voice trembled as tears welled up. Frustration spilled over as she turned to Allen and commanded, “Stop the car!” 

Allen, feeling deeply regretful, tried to soothe her. “Ms. Charlotte, please don’t be upset. Suzy isn’t doubting you! You just said it yourself–you’re the only family she has left. How could she possibly doubt you?” 

“I have my own eyes; I can see for myself!” Charlotte snapped, her voice rising. “Stop the car now!” 

Suzy pursed her lips. “I was just-” 

“Shut up! I don’t want to hear anything from you right now!” 

Allen was left speechless. 

Well, it seemed like stopping the car was the only option. 

He drove a little farther before pulling over at the side of the road. The car hadn’t even come to a full stop when Charlotte flung the door open and stormed out. 

Allen sighed helplessly. “If I’d known this would happen, I wouldn’t have said anything earlier.” 

He hadn’t anything by it; he’d simply been caught off guard by Charlotte’s reaction at that time. She’d always been so gentle, yet even she had a fiercely uncompromising side.
