The news of Suzy’s failure quickly reached the woman. “Damn it! She must’ve done it on purpose. Otherwise, why would she make such a show of going after Evangeline so openly? Suzy Frost, I should’ve known better than to trust your lies!” 

The woman had thought Suzy had finally relented, but instead, she’d been played like a fool. Furious, she was tempted to tear Suzy apart on the spot. 

“Suzy Frost, do you really think this little stunt will make me let you off the hook? Evangeline must die by your hand–you can’t escape from this!” 

She summoned one of her subordinates and whispered something in his ear. “Once it’s done, make sure Suzy gets the message.” 

“Understood!” 

At Evangeline’s estate. 

After Suzy had been subdued, Evangeline went to find Dylan. “General Wright, I originally planned to tell you about this in the morning. It’s quite late, and I didn’t want to disturb you. But after thinking it over, I realized waiting might not be the best choice, so here I am.” 

Seeing the serious expression on Evangeline’s face, Dylan nodded. “It seems like something urgent. Please, go ahead.” 

In truth, Dylan already knew what had happened. Suzy had caused quite the commotion earlier there was no way he wouldn’t have noticed.

Evangeline’s expression remained composed, but her tone carried a hint of reproach. “If it were just anyone else, I’d have had them detained without a second thought. But considering she’s your ex–wife, even though you’re no longer married, I thought it was best to inform you about this.” 

Dylan feigned disbelief. “You’re saying my ex–wife broke in just now and threatened to kill you?” 

“Exactly. I even thought of having the two of you meet, but she wasn’t willing. For now,

Evangeline offered a quiet, enigmatic smile. “General Wright, perhaps you should check on her. It’s best not to let her stew in her thoughts for too long.” 

Dylan studied Evangeline for a moment, hoping to coax more information from her, but she remained tight–lipped. 

Hiding the flicker of frustration in his gaze, he replied, “Technically, we’re divorced and shouldn’t have any reason to be involved anymore. But if it helps you, Ms. Ford, I’ll go see 

her.” 

The guest house at Evangeline’s estate wasn’t far, just a few minutes walk. Though Suzy was technically being detained, her accommodations were nothing short of luxurious. 

When Dylan arrived, Suzy wasn’t the least bit surprised. She had already guessed Evangeline would arrange for them to meet. After all, with Dylan’s status, it wouldn’t be so easy to simply deal with his ex–wife without consequences. 

Feigning annoyance, Suzy didn’t wait for Dylan to speak before snapping, “I’ve already said we’re divorced, and I don’t want to see him. Why did you still bring him here?” 

Her words were directed at the guard who had escorted Dylan. 

The guard ignored Suzy’s outburst and bowed respectfully to Dylan. “Mr. Wright, I’ll leave you to it.” 

“Thank you,” Dylan replied with a polite nod. 

Once the guard exited, leaving just the two of them, Suzy quickly scanned the room. After confirming there were no cameras or listening devices, she gestured for Dylan to speak. 

Picking up on her signal, Dylan’s expression turned serious as he spoke in a low voice. When Evangeline came to me earlier, I tried to probe her for information. It’s obvious she knows who that woman is, but she refuses to say.”
