“Boss, everything went exactly as you predicted!” Riley eagerly reported to Suzy, recounting the events in detail. 

“So, Helena really tried to kill Dylan?” 

“Exactly!” Riley confirmed. “Luckily, you planned ahead and had Allen disguise himself as Dylan and lie in his bed. Helena didn’t realize anything until Allen ripped off the mask. You should’ve seen her face when she figured out she’d been duped. It was absolutely priceless! 

“I can’t help but wonder what kind of expression Serena will have when she finds out we weren’t fooled at all!” 

“Keep your voice down!” Suzy cautioned her. “Serena is cunning. Who knows if she has someone listening in nearby?” 

“Oh, right, right!” Riley quickly lowered her voice. “But, Boss, what exactly is Helena’s grudge against Dylan? It seems really personal.” 

“How would I know?” Suzy replied impatiently. “Maybe he seduced her and then abandoned her. Didn’t they already try to pin it on Evangeline by saying it was a case of love turned to hate? Maybe that part wasn’t made up–it could be the real reason Helena despises Dylan.” 

“I don’t think so,” Riley said thoughtfully. “When I spoke to Serena earlier, the way she talked didn’t make it sound like that was the cause.” 

Riley and Suzy weren’t the only ones curious. Even Dylan himself couldn’t figure out what Helena’s vendetta against him was. He was sure he’d never had any interaction with her, so where did this deep–seated hatred come from? 

Whenever he asked, Helena refused to explain, repeating the same phrase over and over: ” 

You deserve to die.” 

“Even if he deserves to die, there has to be a reason!” Victor grumbled in frustration. “It can’t just be because she doesn’t like the way he looks! 

“If that’s the case, then it’s truly ridiculous. To go to such lengths, even risking sparking a conflict between two nations, all because she couldn’t stand the sight of him!” 

“So, what if it is?” Helena retorted, refusing to reveal the real reason she had gone to such lengths to take Dylan’s life. 

Because the truth was something she couldn’t bring herself to say. 

Her silence only fueled everyone’s curiosity. Allen decided to take matters into his own hands.

Dylan gave Allen a measured look. “Everyone, leave.” 

Allen and Victor exchanged a glance but said nothing, quietly exiting the room. Only Dylan and Helena remained. 

In the now–silent, spacious room, Dylan sat across from Helena without a word, his gaze fixed intently on her. 

He didn’t speak, and neither did she. The heavy silence stretched on, 

After five minutes, Helena finally cracked. “Dylan Wright, stop wasting your time. I hate you, and that’s why I want you dead. That’s the reason–plain and simple.” 

Dylan’s expression didn’t change, but his gaze hardened, and after a moment, he let out a cold laugh. “Then I suppose I can use the same reason to kill you, can’t I?” 

It wasn’t a question, just a statement. 

With those words, he pulled a gun from his holster, aiming it squarely at her forehead. His thin lips moved slightly as he spoke.
