Chapter 0521
Serena wasn’t a fool. At this point, how could she not see what was really happening?
“Damn it, so Suzy has been playing dumb all along!” she cursed internally,
It all made sense now. She’d thought Suzy was so easy to manipulate, but it turned out she had been setting her up the whole time.
Though inwardly fuming, Serena kept her façade intact. “Miss Frost, what are you talking about? I don’t understand a word of it.”
“Still pretending?” Suzy said with a cold smirk. “You must be really confident in your acting skills.”
“Acting? I don’t act. I’m terrible at it! Whenever I lie, I can’t stop blinking. Ask my sister- she knows that better than anyone.”
Serena turned to Evangeline, forcing a laugh. “Sister, isn’t that true? Haven’t I always had that tell?”
Evangeline looked at her, her gaze complicated. “Sister, I used to think I knew you inside and out. But now I see I was wrong.

“Sister, what are you saying?” Serena’s expression shifted to one of hurt. “What’s going on? Why would you doubt me like this?”
Suzy stepped forward, pulling Evangeline aside to stand face–to–face with Serena. “You want to know what’s going on? Let me spell it out for you.
“You’ve been scheming to take everything Evangeline has. You encouraged Helena to target your own sister. But you underestimated Evangeline’s incredible luck. No matter how meticulous your plans were, she escaped them every single time.
“So, you turned your attention to me. You thought hiring the world’s top assassin- someone who’s never failed a mission–would make eliminating Evangeline a sure thing.
“Even better, since the man Evangeline loved was also my brother, if I failed, it would still sow discord between them. A win–win for you, wasn’t it?”
“That’s not true!” Serena brushed past Suzy and grabbed Evangeline by the wrist. “Sister, Suzy is lying! I’ve never done anything like that!
“You know she’s always tried to drive a wedge between us. Don’t believe a single word she says! And remember, you asked me to investigate who was trying to make fools of us sisters? I found out–it was Helena!
“She’s not dead after all. She faked her death and has been plotting behind the scenes, trying to take back everything you have!”

“She never believed in destiny,” Suzy continued with a faint smile. “She always thought that as the firstborn of the Empress, the throne was rightfully hers.
“She didn’t cheat back then; the mistake was with the so–called destiny itself. That’s why someone as unremarkable as you was chosen.
Suzy’s tone turned even colder. “But I suspect it’s not just Helena who thinks this way, isn’t it? You believe it too, Serena. You think everything Evangeline has should belong to
you.
“After all, you share the same father, and you’re her elder sister. By your logic, you’re the one who deserves to be Empress, aren’t you?”
The truth was, Helena might have been a pawn from the very beginning.
Simon had once told Suzy that Helena’s rise to Empress was due to the late Empress‘ will being forged. Supposedly, Helena’s father was behind it.
Yet Helena claimed she had no father. From the start, the rumors that had spread outside were likely a well–crafted lie.
Helena might have been nothing more than a pawn in someone else’s game.
And after being used for a few years, she became disposable. That was when cracks began to show, giving Serena the perfect opportunity to step in, fueling Helena’s hatred for Evangeline.
