Just as Allen finished speaking, Dylan emerged from the house. Allen gave him a once–over before patting his shoulder with a grin. “Elliot’s a tough rival, Mr. Wright. You’ll need to step up your game!” 

Before Dylan could respond, Allen walked back inside and shut the door behind him. 

Dylan glanced back at the closed door, his dark eyes deepening with thought. 

Desmond, sensing the heavy atmosphere radiating from Dylan, hesitated before stepping forward. “Sir, should we head back?” 

Dylan gave him a look. “I wouldn’t mind staying the night.” 

Desmond thought to himself, Too bad‘ Mrs. Wright would never agree to that. Wishful thinking at its finest.” 

As Desmond pushed Dylan’s wheelchair down the driveway, they didn’t get far before running into Elliot. It was obvious Elliot had been waiting for him. 

Without being summoned, Elliot had taken the initiative to approach him instead. 

Dylan signaled Desmond with a glance. “Wait for me in the car.” 

Desmond hesitated, his gaze darting to Elliot with concern. This young man was undoubtedly a bold and dangerous character. Given Dylan’s current physical limitations, if their conversation escalated… 

Desmond worried Dylan might be at a disadvantage. But then again, Elliot probably wouldn’t be foolish enough to make a scene. 

After a few cautious glances back, Desmond reluctantly followed Dylan’s instructions and headed to the car. 

The moment Desmond was out of earshot, Elliot broke the silence, his tone laced with provocation. “Mr. Wright, you really do keep a close eye on me. The moment I arrive, you’re right behind me. Afraid of me, are you?” 

It was a deliberate taunt. To Elliot, Dylan was just an old man entirely unworthy of Suzy. 

Dylan, unfazed by the provocation, merely curved his lips into a faint smile. “Elliot, don’t let your father’s lifetime of hard work go to waste because of your recklessness.” 

“Is that a threat?” Elliot sneered, his tone dripping with disdain. “Dylan, don’t overestimate yourself. Just because I’m younger doesn’t mean I’m less capable than you. Especially now, when you’re stuck in a wheelchair.” 

Ah, the arrogance of youth. 

To be fair, Elliot was already more composed than most his age. He rarely displayed such

For a brief second, he’d worried Suzy might truly be interested in Elliot. But seeing Elliot waiting here to provoke him? That was all the confirmation he needed. 

Sometimes, what was witnessed directly wasn’t the whole truth. Suzy had likely acted close to Elliot earlier as a deliberate attempt to provoke Dylan. 

And that only proved one thing–she still cared about him. If she didn’t, she wouldn’t go to such lengths to provoke him.
