"Dylan, don’t push your luck.”
Just wheeling him to the bathroom was already more than enough of a favor.
Now he was thinking about things he shouldn’t?
He was clearly getting ahead of himself.
"My hands have been numb since early this morning," Dylan replied, shaking his wrist with an expression of discomfort.
"It’s been like this all day without any relief. Honestly, I wouldn’t bother you if I didn’t have to! Lately, it’s been happening more often. Maybe it’s another side effect of the medication from before."
"Numb hands?" Suzy let out a cold laugh.
"And yet they’re never numb when you’re typing on your computer? I saw you working in the study when I came in, didn’t I? Don’t tell me they only act up conveniently during bathroom breaks."
"You don’t believe me?" Dylan looked hurt, his voice dripping with wounded pride. "Fine, forget it. You can go. I’ll manage on my own."
What was that expression? That tone?
Who was he trying to guilt-trip?
Suzy couldn’t help but marvel at how far he’d fallen from the image he used to have. His original persona wasn’t like this at all.
Now it had crumbled all the way to the ocean.
"Fine, handle it yourself then. I’m leaving," Suzy said without hesitation, turning on her heel to walk out.
Dylan was speechless, his plan backfired completely.
Though Suzy wasn’t entirely without sympathy for him, it wasn’t enough to make her stop.
Dylan stayed quiet as she left, but once the door closed behind her, he deliberately made loud, clumsy noises.
Bang! Thud! Clatter!
Hearing the racket from inside, Suzy pinched the bridge of her nose in exasperation. "What a ridiculous man. Could his acting be any worse?"
Ignoring the commotion, Suzy remained standing by the door, unfazed. She didn’t move an inch until Dylan finally called out, "I’m done!"
Suzy pursed her lips and pushed the door open, only to stop in her tracks.
"My pants are wet—I need to change," Dylan reminded her as they moved.
"I’m literally taking you to your room to do that," Suzy snapped, exasperated.
Dylan stayed quiet but couldn’t help thinking she could show him just a bit more patience.
Once they reached his room, Suzy begrudgingly went to fetch a change of clothes for him. She tossed them onto his lap without ceremony.
"Anything else? If not, I’m leaving."
"Aren’t you going to help me change?" Dylan asked innocently.
"And why would I do that?" Suzy shot back.
"You claimed your hands were too numb to go to the bathroom, but you managed just fine without me, didn’t you? I’m sure you can handle changing clothes too."
"If I were good at this, my clothes wouldn’t have gotten wet in the first place," Dylan countered, slipping into his usual pitiful tone.
"I know it’s a bit much to ask. After all, we’re not exactly… in that kind of relationship anymore, and it’s not convenient for you to help me. But I…"
