He pulled out his phone, his fingers shaking as he dialed. "I’m calling the police right now!"

"We received a report that you’re involved in a suspected case of home invasion and murder. Can you explain why the victim is lying here dead? Did you kill her?"

"If I say no—" Suzy began, only to be cut off by one of the officers, who clearly wasn’t impressed with her calm demeanor.

"If you didn’t kill her, then why are you at the scene of the crime?"

"Is it impossible for me to be doing a good deed?" Suzy replied with a faint smile.

“I called her multiple times, but she didn’t pick up. My mom hardly ever misses my calls. She usually answers right away.

“She has high blood pressure, so I got really concerned. I asked for leave and rushed home, only to walk in and see her killing my mom!”

The officer pressed further. “You saw her kill your mother with your own eyes?”

“Yes! As soon as I walked in, I saw her stabbing my mom with a knife!” he said, his voice full of fury as he pointed an accusing finger at Suzy.

“You vile woman, why did you kill my mother?”

“Do you know her?” the officer asked him again.

He shook his head firmly.

“No, I’ve never seen her before. I don’t think my mom knew her either. I’m familiar with my mom’s friends, and this woman isn’t one of them.”
