Time was limited, and no matter how worried Allen was about Suzy, he had no choice but to leave within the allotted time.
Whoever orchestrated this clearly had ill intentions. With so much about them still unknown, Allen’s unease only grew.
The moment he stepped out of the police station, he called Desmond.
"Desmond, where’s your boss?"
"Why is everyone looking for him today?" Desmond replied with mild exasperation.
"Everyone? Who else besides me?" Allen pressed.
"Obviously your boss, Mrs. Wright. She called earlier looking for him too. The two of them are probably still together," Desmond said casually.
"Together? You’re out of your mind. My boss is in jail!" Allen snapped.
"She’s been framed and is being held at the station right now!"
"What the—!" Desmond exclaimed, utterly shocked.
"Say that again! Where is Mrs. Wright?"
"She’s in jail. I just saw her," Allen said, quickly explaining the situation.
"I have no idea what the other side is planning, but I’m seriously worried. I figured it’s better to let Dylan know.
“Even though Suzy didn’t want him involved, an extra set of hands might make a difference."
"I’ll call him right now!" Desmond hung up and immediately called Dylan.
Dylan was equally stunned when he heard the news.
"Find out everything you can about this Vivian’s son. I want to know exactly who’s behind this and why."
After giving his orders, Dylan quickly changed clothes, preparing to head to the station. Even if Suzy didn’t want to see him, he needed to see for himself that she was safe.
When the police informed Suzy of Dylan’s arrival, her response was swift. "Tell him I’m unavailable."
"Too bad," Dylan replied shamelessly.
"I’m not interested in meddling in anyone else’s business. I only care about yours. Whether you like it or not, I’m not going anywhere. You might as well get used to it."
"You’re insufferable!"
"Maybe I am," Dylan admitted, his voice low and unwavering as he met her gaze. "But if I’m sick, then you’re the cure, Suzy. Only you can fix me."
"Did you come here just to spout this nonsense?" Suzy’s expression was blank, her tone sharp.
"If that’s the case, then you’ve said your piece. Please leave now. This isn’t the place for such pointless talk, and I’m not in the mood to listen."
Dylan didn’t say anything immediately.
Over time, he had grown used to Suzy’s sharp words, and while they still stung, the pain wasn’t as sharp as it used to be.
He simply looked at her, his determination unwavering, as if he had no intention of leaving anytime soon.
