"Take a bath, my foot!"
Suzy scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Let Desmond help you!"
Desmond, who had been awkwardly averting his gaze to avoid witnessing the two of them flirting, stiffened at the sudden mention of his name.
"Uh, actually, I just remembered I have a lot of unfinished work to handle. I really don’t have time to help Mr. Wright bathe, so it’ll have to be Mrs. Wright!"
There was no way he was stepping into that role when Suzy was right there. Even if he wasn’t busy, he’d fake being swamped.
Before Suzy could protest, Desmond bolted out of the room like a startled rabbit.
Dylan smirked, clearly pleased with Desmond’s quick thinking. The kid deserved a raise for his impeccable timing.
With Desmond gone, Suzy chuckled sarcastically.
"Well, since he’s so busy, why don’t you call someone else? You’ve got an entire room full of secretaries. Pick one, or better yet, have them all pitch in for a group effort. That way, you’ll be squeaky clean!"
Dylan narrowed his eyes, recognizing the playful jab. Without warning, he pulled her into his arms. "But I only want Mrs. Wright to help me, and my body is for her eyes only."
"Ugh!" Suzy made a show of rolling her eyes in exaggerated disgust. "Your so-called body? I wouldn’t care even if it were on full display!"
"Really?" Dylan raised a brow, grabbing her hand and placing it against his chest.
Suzy immediately felt the heat of his skin and yanked her hand back as though burned. "Dylan, stop acting shameless! I’m not falling for your antics!"
"Then why are you blushing?" Dylan asked with a smirk, gently brushing his fingers against her cheek. "Don’t tell me it’s the heat."
"It is the heat!" Suzy stammered, her voice betraying her flustered state.
"Your office is way too warm—your air conditioning is practically non-existent! I’m sweating like crazy! Anyway, you’re fine now, so I’ll be leaving. I’ve got a ton of work to do and no time to waste bickering with you!"
Dylan refused to let go. "You’re not leaving yet..."
Hearing the threat, Dylan wisely decided to back off. "Fine, I’ll handle it myself!"
Pushing things too far wouldn’t help, he figured. She’d only just started warming up to him. It was better to take it slow.
Dylan wheeled himself into the adjoining bathroom, took care of his bath, and changed into fresh clothes.
Though he couldn’t walk yet, he was far more capable than he let on.
When he emerged a short while later, he found Suzy fast asleep on the sofa.
It had barely been ten minutes, but she’d already dozed off.
He could only imagine how exhausted she must have been.
With everything that had happened recently, how could she have had a proper rest?
