"Just now, you said you followed me because you were worried. And now you're saying Suzy sent you. Diana, do you even realize what you’re saying?

"You think saying this will make me let you follow me?"

Elliot flung her chin away, his grip loosening in an instant.

Diana stumbled back several steps, nearly falling to the ground, but he didn’t reach out to catch her.

Instead, his face twisted with disgust as he growled, "I'm warning you, don’t follow me again, or you’ll regret it!"

“Yes! Just say it, and I’ll find a way to get it for you!” Diana promised confidently.

Elliot chuckled. “No need to go through all that trouble. What I want to eat is right in front of me.”

Diana was puzzled. “What?”

They were standing in the middle of a street with nothing around—what could he possibly want to eat?

She glanced at the food he had thrown on the ground earlier. “Don’t tell me… it’s that?”

Elliot’s smile grew more enigmatic. “Follow me, and I’ll show you.”

As she watched him turn and head toward a nearby wooded area, Diana’s curiosity only deepened. “What is it, exactly?”

Whatever it was, she didn’t really care. What mattered was that Elliot was finally willing to talk to her properly, and that alone made her happy.
