"I’ll go get Dad," Simon said, striding toward the plane.
Suzy followed close behind.
It had been over twenty years since Simon last saw their father.
The moment he laid eyes on Timothy, his emotions spiraled out of control.
"Dad… it’s really you!"
The sight of his father, who hadn’t changed much from his memories, made Simon feel as if he had stepped into another lifetime.
The man before him looked almost exactly as he remembered.
Yet, the reality was undeniable—they were separated for over two decades.
If not for that tragedy, their family would have been whole, happy, and untouched by suffering.
But now, it was just the three of them left.
The more he thought about it, the harder it was to contain his emotions.
"Dad, I’m sorry. I failed to protect my brothers. If only I had kept them safe back then, they would have been here too… they could have been reunited with you."
Guilt consumed him as memories of his two younger brothers flashed through his mind—brothers he watched die right in front of him.
As their eldest sibling, he failed them when they needed him most.
Seeing Simon like this, Suzy’s heart clenched.
She couldn’t bear it.
She reached down and pulled him up from where he had sunk to his knees.
"Simon, don’t do this. None of it was your fault! And besides, Charlotte is already dead. We’ve avenged them.
“If you think about it, for us to even have this moment, to be standing here together, maybe fate hasn’t been as cruel as we once thought."
She spent years believing she had lost everyone.
But against all odds, she found her father and brother again.
To her, that was already a blessing.
Simon looked at her, his own eyes brimming with unshed tears.
“Before, I’d throw up even when I hadn’t eaten, but these past couple of days, it’s only happened when I eat something I don’t like.
“You don’t have to worry about me. I have the palace doctors checking on me every day. You, on the other hand, should go rest. You’ve been on a plane for hours. You must be exhausted!"
Suzy didn’t notice anything off in Evangeline’s response and simply assumed she was being considerate.
"I got plenty of sleep on the plane, so I’m not tired at all. Even if you’re feeling better, I still want to check your condition. I was planning to prescribe something nutritious that would also help stabilize the pregnancy."
Evangeline chuckled. "I’m already taking supplements for that. Trust me, I’m more cautious about this baby than you think, especially with Simon watching over me like a hawk.
“You have no idea how overprotective he’s been. He’s probably more nervous than I am!
“Go get some rest. I’m going to check on the kitchen and have them add a few more dishes for dinner."
Suzy frowned slightly as she watched Evangeline walk away.
She insisted on not getting checked.
That, in itself, wasn’t strange—but for someone who knew she was a miracle doctor, Evangeline hadn’t even asked for a consultation upon meeting her.
It was almost as if she was avoiding it.
