With Gemma happily drinking her formula, Nina noticed that Orion had not eaten yet, and Pharaoh probably had not had a proper meal either. “I’m going to grab some food. What would you all like?”

“Mom, can I have a burger and mashed potatoes?” Orion asked excitedly, eager for a rare treat from outside.

Pharaoh, sensing that Nina would not let this go, went to see the doctor as soon as she left. “I’d like you to keep my diagnosis confidential from my family,” he requested.

“If it were a minor illness, we could consider that, but with something this serious, your family has a right to know,” the doctor said, immediately reluctant.

Hearing the sincerity in Pharaoh’s words made the doctor even more conflicted. He did not know what Pharaoh had done in his younger years, but the man before him now was clearly a devoted father.

In the end, the doctor nodded. “All right. If she asks, I’ll tell her it’s your choice to keep it private. She can talk to you if she wants to know more, but it’ll be up to you to share or not.”

“Thank you, doctor,” Pharaoh said gratefully before returning to the room to continue playing with the kids.

Not long after, Nina returned with the food. Instead of going directly back to the room, she stopped by the doctor’s office first.
