Cindy, a regular at auctions and a prominent figure in the social circle, was recognized by many. Ashley, however, was a new face, prompting speculation about her family background. Their seats were in the middle–rear section. They weren’t early. A few minutes after they sat down, the auction was about to begin. Then, a commotion erupted in the front rows. Ashley and Cindy looked over. 

Ashley stiffened after hearing what had happened. 

Cindy:“It’s Chase and Tanya… They’re here too.” She asked Ashley, “Did you know they were coming?” 

Ashley shook her head. She hadn’t expected him to be there, and he hadn’t told her. After the last banquet and the tech expo, Tanya’s profile in high society had risen significantly. When she and Chase appeared, many focused on her. 

“Her outfit at the last banquet cost over three million dollars. This one is just as impressive.” 

“Forget the diamonds. That dress is by Imse, a top designer who’s been semi–retired. He only makes three custom gowns a year, each costing over ten million…”
