Key: Chosen By The Moon (Dylan) Chapter 0438
King Josh POV
The war raged on all around me, and for the first time since it had began, I truly feared death. Lewis was consistently getting the upper hand on me and my attacks, and my worry increased drastically.
We were both out for blood. Biting, scratching and striking at any chance we got, and currently Lewis was doing a much better job at landing hits than I was at dodging them, the situation wasn’t looking good at all for me or my side of the fight.
All that changed however when I smelt my mate… Dylan. Her blood was fresh filling my nose and causing a large grin to form on my face, however my hot turned into a smug glee as I noticed the horrified expression on Lewis’s face at whatever had caused Dylan to cry out the way she did.
It gave me the opening I needed to attack and actually land some damaging strikes.
Imagine being so blinded by something as juvinile as love, that you allow yourself to be bested in such a damaging way.
I admit I too was exhausted, if it wasn’t for my matés appearance, this situation could have been drastically different. So once his body began to shift into his human form, I was grateful for the respite.
Lewis lay below me, panting with a constant frown enveloping his features, while I too shifted back, before attacking once more. He began to cough and splutter, blood seeped from his lips, and his face became excitingly unrecognizable.
In the end I just couldn’t contain my glee, and so I thought it would be rather enjoyable to begin a rant of mockery.
"You know, I always thought, if someone was to replace me as the king, it would have been you, Lewis. But instead you had to go around claiming my mate, your queen Luna, as your own. Such traitorous actions can not be over looked. How the mighty fall..." I continued to actively beat him, all while talking. My fists radiated a pain that simply increased my excitement. "What were you thinking?" I laughed at the sight of him. "You thought you could get revenge for your first mate? Is that it? Iliana wanted me! Me! Even as I killed her she begged me to love her."
Too bad he was never able to avenge her. I grinned widely as my claws elongated and my hand raised high, ready to deliver the final strike. However my movements were halted when the two words I never in my life thought I would hear, graced my ears.
