Chapter 101

Kaia's POV

The walk to wherever Alpha Tyler was taking me to didn't take long and I recognized the pathway from the last time I ran after Kieran and speaking of him, I should probably tell him what I was doing.

But a part of me was actually relaxed…it might be wrong, but I knew that nothing they said would get me to leave Kieran again. Not this time.

“I really love you…” Lylah started, and I could sense a but coming. "but you can be dumb sometimes.” My jaw dropped, I didn't even have time to respond to her insult before she continued.

"You're willingly walking into the den of the enemies, that's not exactly called taking caution. How do you think our mate is going to feel when he finds out you're here without your bodyguard?”

I couldn't contain my shock seeing how she'd never spoken to me in this manner before. And I knew better than to ignore it.

“I'm sorry, Lylah." I apologized, promising to tell him. And she just nodded but didn't say anything. For now, I just mind-linked Kieran without any questions and his response was an immediate ‘I’m coming.’

Alpha Tyler opened the door, and my eyes landed on Luna Clarissa who stood up once she saw me. I stopped in tracks, the memory of our last conversation flooding my mind and I could tell she was thinking about it too.

“I know you're wondering why I brought you here." He started.

“Well," I thought. “It could be to actually talk or to kill me so that Kieran can finally mate Laura." I finished and Lylah just snorted.

He offered me a seat and also took one as he cleared his throat. “We haven't been fair to you." He started, and my brows mirrored the shock I was feeling. My eyes darted towards his mate, whose eyes found something interesting to look at on the floor.

“You're our son's mate, and we know you mean the world to him but we went out of our way to tear both of you apart…for selfish gain.” He continued, his voice trembling a bit.

A wave of relief washed over me, but at the same time, this was the first time I was talking to him and if anyone should be apologizing, it wasn't him. Although the fact that she wasn't glaring at me was a sign that she agreed with what he was saying.

"My mate is also remorseful…" Lylah snickered loudly at this. “She thought about it all night a few days ago when she couldn't sleep."

“It'll be more meaningful if I hear it from her." I heard myself say before I could stop the words from coming out.

Their heads jerked upward to look at me, not hiding the fact that that was the last thing they were expecting me to say…glad I was able to surprise them.

“More like shock." Lylah chimed in.

Alpha Tyler was the first to get out of the state and his head darted to his mate, staring at her without saying anything, no doubt they were mind-linking each other. As I waited for the outcome of their mindlink, I realized that I had an upper hand with them and it put me at ease and if it was something else…I wasn't sure.

“Kaia…” She started, the door opening put an end to what she was going to say.

Kieran was seething, his fist clenched, but as soon as his eyes landed on me, they softened.

“Let's go, Bella." He commanded softly, not paying attention to his parents.

My eyes went to them, before turning to him and putting my hand in his stretched one. But Alpha Tyler stood up before we could take a step, his hand grabbing Kieran by his shoulder.

“We just want to make things right…”

Kieran turned to look at me and I nodded. His eyes met that of his mom, who unlike her usual self has nothing to say. Seeing that there was no harm there, he let them apologize, especially his mom, who went around the bush before she could actually say the word ‘sorry’ out.

Once that was done, Kieran led me outside and back to the Pack house.
