Chapter 26

Kaia's POV

I woke up with a start the next morning, my head hurts and my eyes felt like they were on fire. My throat was dried, like I haven't taken water in weeks. I groggily opened my eyes but shut it when bright rays of light hit me.

Pulling the duvet over my head, I let out a loud groan, “what the hell happened last night?" I thought. “How did we even get home?"

Kieran, the only person who could provide answers to my questions was nowhere to be found.

“Lylah, so you remember what happened last night?" I asked my wolf.

She scoffed, “oh, I do." She sounded amused and at the moment, I doubt it was a good thing. Without waiting for me to ask, she continued. “Was it after you begged him to change you…or when you insisted on performing a strip dance for him? You even started crying when he wouldn't let you change into your sexy lingerie.”

Each of her words brought back memories. “I can't believe I actually did that." I thought as I sank deeper into the bed, trying to hide my embarrassment.

"I'm never getting drunk again.” I finished and Lylah snorted.

"You've never gotten drunk before.” She replied. "And you better come up with a creative excuse on why you were in a bar an hour away from the pack…and you have five seconds.”

I groaned again, "help me out, here.”

"And he's here, bye.” She said, just as the door creaked open, revealing a fully dressed Kieran.

He came towards me with a glass cup in his hand and a smile I could swear was mocking my present situation. He sat on the bed beside me, his smile was replaced by a concerned expression when he saw the look on my face.

“Morning.” He greeted me softly, handing me the glass cup which contained water.

I nodded, taking a large gulp of the water. “What…happened? How did you find us?”

His expression turned dark, “You had me worried yesterday, Bella." He started, and my face fell. “I thought something had happened to you."

I pulled myself out of the duvet to sit upright, ignoring the sharp pain that my sudden movement brought.

“I'm sorry." I apologized, “It wouldn't happen again." I assured him. Moving even closer to him, I wrapped my arms around him and his body relaxed against mine as he held me back.

“Smart move." Lylah said, and I fought back a smile. Dani would be so proud. She'd told me repeatedly that I could get away with anything as long as he was sure I was safe and what better way to show that if not through contact.

Besides, it was better than having to explain why we were there in the first place. It wasn't my story to tell and if Allie wanted him to know…which I doubt, she'd tell him herself.

“I have to get back to work, but once you're done here, come by my office so we'll have breakfast together, would you?” He asked, pulling away to look at my face.

Blushing lightly, I nodded. And he was gone after kissing my lips.

Once in the shower, I thought about Dani and Allie, if they were okay. And I made a mental note to ask them when we meet up later.

Within thirty minutes, I was done and ready to go meet Kieran in his office. What I didn't expect was the huge man standing in front of the door.

“Good morning Luna." His thick voice greeted, bowing down.

My brows furrowed in confusion, “ermm…morning?” It sounded more of a question than a statement.
