Chapter 34
Kaia's POV
“Oh no, oh no!" I murmured as a look of horror crept over my face. I started pacing around in the room, sweats dripping down my forehead.
“Bella, my parents are going to love you." Kieran assured me, taking slow steps to where I stood, his hands at each of my side, holding me in place.
His eyes held my gaze with so much intensity. “You don't know that, what if they decide that I'm not good enough for you."
“You're perfect for me, and they'll see that too when they meet you."
I nodded, leaning into his touch when he caressed my face. I don't think I would ever get used to the shiver I feel when he touches me. And now, a part of me believes that as long as he was with me, I could do anything.
He dropped the news about his parents coming to visit after we finished dinner. They had been away for a while, enjoying their time away from being the leaders of the pack. And they were going to come here before finally returning to their house.
“Come to bed already, I missed you all day." He said, and just like that, thoughts of his parents were forgotten as I let him lead me to bed.
Kieran's voice dropped to a sultry whisper, "You're wearing too much clothing."
I smiled, feeling a shiver run down my spine. "So are you," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.
His eyes locked onto mine, his gaze burning with desire. "I think we can fix that," he whispered, his voice husky and seductive.
As Kieran's fingers grazed my skin, I felt my eyelids growing heavy. We sank onto the bed together, our bodies entwined.
The next thing I knew, I was waking up to the warmth of Kieran's chest, his arms wrapped tightly around me. I smiled, feeling a sense of peace wash over me.
He didn't move when I kissed his forehead and I moved slightly but he held me closer with his eyes still closed.
“Let's just stay here," Lylah's voice rang out, “forever." She purrs.
I rolled my eyes and tried to move again. This time, his arms loosen and I stood up. I needed to shower and my hair also needed washing…that alone would take time.
Kieran was awake by the time I was done in the bathroom. He had a frown on his face, making my brow furrowed in confusion.
“Why didn't you wake me up?"
I smiled, I loved how touchy he gets with me. "Thought you should rest more. It won't happen again.” I assured him and he nodded.
Both of us left the room at the same time when Caleb mind-linked Kieran regarding their investigation. He didn't tell me much about it, not that it bothered me anyway.
I said goodbye to Kieran once we got to his office.
Scott was still doing his work following me around. I've grown used to his presence but I couldn't say the same thing for Dani and Allie, who wouldn't stop complaining that he was invading private conversations.
“My dad is easier to get along with…my mom can be a handful.” Allie said when I told them about my conversation with Kieran and I felt colour drain off my face.
Dani cleared her throat, glaring at Allie whose eyes widened when she realized what she did.
"What she's saying in essence is that their mom will love you.”
