Chapter 40

Kieran's Pov

As I made my way out of the room, I couldn't help but play the events of the previous day. She'd enjoyed her day and so had I. But all of sudden, she couldn't stand the sight of me.

My heart felt tight and King had been very quiet since she started ignoring us, we were even blocked out of her mind.

“..Alpha?” I heard someone call and I snapped out of my haze to stare at my beta and gamma who took a glance at me and back to each other.

I definitely didn't sleep well and now, I am lost in thoughts.

“What?” I asked harshly and they gulped, I considered apologizing for my tone but I was feeling too hurt and preoccupied by thoughts of kaia to even think of doing anything else.

“We have to go train with the new recruits, Alpha” And with that, they both left me in the office alone and I felt the wheels in my head turn.

What recruits? Recruiting of new warriors was not till a month from now.

I didn't care to think much about it because my mind soon went back to Kaia's behavior for the past two days and I was back to my moody self.

“Did something happen while she went back to the room?" I racked my brain at the reason she was ignoring me but nothing came up and I resisted the urge to slam my hand on my desk, it had already been changed before and I had no intention of becoming the Alpha who broke his desks in frustration.

Although the idea was a little bit tempting, I needed to know what happened and I knew sitting here brooding about it wouldn't get me the answer I needed.

But I had nothing to do, who would I ask about this situation I found myself into?

Her friend, Dani.

I quickly mind linked Dani who answered almost immediately.

“Alpha” She greeted me and I nodded, not in the mood for pleasantries.

“Dani, you know kaia right?” I began and she nodded.

“So you should know what's up with her?” I ask, holding my breath.

“I’m sorry, Alpha, but I have no idea what is up with her, she has been off lately” She explained to me and I sighed into the link, exhausted, before ending the mindlink.

“Well that didn't go over so well” King's voice filled my head and I sighed.

“You're back!” I exclaimed dryly and he rolled his eyes.

I asked him if he knew anything about what could be going on with Kaia, but he shook his head, “I have no idea, even Lylah doesn't want to talk to me too.” He complained.

“Could you try asking lylah again, I'm worried about them” I asked him and he nodded before he disappeared from my head.
