Chapter 41

Ryder’s POV -(To show you his view on his relationship with Allie)

I have never been so confused…maybe I have, but this was just over the top. I wanted a mate, one that the moon goddess prepared for me. I wanted something like what Caleb and Dani shared and even Kieran.

But at the same time, there was no denying the attraction I felt towards Allie. And for the longest time, trying to ignore felt like a waste of time especially when she felt the same way.

Before she clocked eighteen, that was two years ago, I hoped she was going to mine. That hope was crushed when my wolf didn't recognize her as ours…even Kaid was disappointed. But one thing led to the other that night and ever since then, a part of me couldn't stop thinking about her, misses her when she wasn't close.

“What are you thinking hard about?" Caleb asked, jolting me back to reality.

“Taking over your position."

He snorted, “if you weren't so lazy, I'll believe that?" He said.

“I'm offended." I said, placing a hand across my chest.

“Then take your job fucking seriously.” But I just roll my eyes at the grumpy man.

“Who piss in your cereal on this beautiful day?"

He glared at me before taking the seat beside me as we both waited for Kieran, who was taking his sweet time showing up. Not that I blamed him, with everything that happened in the past week, I wouldn't leave her side if I were him.

“Do you think the former Luna is ever going to accept Luna Kaia?" I asked Caleb.

He shrugged, “Seeing that she's dead set on the

chosen mate, the chances are never. But that doesn't mean Kieran would accept her."

"Definitely not, he's way too obsessed with her.” I said, “with our support, I have no doubt she's going to make an amazing Luna."

He nodded but didn't say anything.

"Were you able to find anything on the rogue?” I asked and the door to the office opened, revealing Kieran who was also wearing a frown.

“They both definitely woke up on the wrong side of bed.” I thought and Kaid snorted.

"It's definitely not a rogue and after spending the whole night researching, I was able to put a few pieces together." Caleb replied and my eyebrows raised.

"What did you find?”

"A witch is behind it.” He said, "but we already knew that since we didn't get any smell that'll lead us to the culprit.”

"Do you have any point or you're telling us what we already know?” Kieran asked, clearly bored.

Being the biggest pack, we've never had an investigation go on for so long.

"I spoke to the warriors on patrol last night and they finally found footprint-”

Kieran leaned forward, his eyes fixed on Caleb. "What about his smell?”

"They got a whiff, but they say they can't place what smell…I already have them working on recognizing it.” He quickly added before any question was asked.

"Okay, see to it that they get something before the end of the day." Kieran said, "this is already going on for too long."

“Yes Alpha."

I tuned them out when I felt a familiar voice at the back of my mind. “Guess who's back!" Allie said and Kaid started pacing around excitedly.

“I'm going to double the warriors on patrol, just in case." I announced suddenly, jumping to my feet, causing the two of them to look at me suspiciously.

“I'd not even ask." Kieran said, massaging his temple.
