Chapter 89
Allie's POV
Since the full moon, my relationship with Dylan became even more better. It was exciting and Dylan does know how to take my mind off things and it went beyond being intimate with him…I do have to say that it was part of it.
But we made a deal not to fall in love with each other since we both hadn't found our mates. He didn't hide the fact that he wasn't desperate to find her, but he wouldn't say why. I agreed because I don't think my heart was ready for another heartbreak.
Kaia didn't bother asking what was going on between us which was good since I might have lied to her if she did. She was going to be worried that the whole thing with Ryder was going to repeat itself and then she'd blame herself for even bringing the suggestion in the first place.
And speaking of Ryder, I haven't seen him anywhere since the full moon which was three days ago.
I know they were busy with the shooter and traitor situation but I've seen Caleb…who literally almost died.
“What are you thinking so hard about?" Kaia asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. And I moved my eyes to meet her gaze.
“Nothing," I lied. “Just the whole incident. I'm hoping that they catch them soon and our lives return to normal."
“You’re right, it feels like everyone is on the edge. And a traitor, possibly among the warriors, makes trusting each other impossible.”
I nodded, “Kieran is going to deal with them soon.” I told her and there was no doubt about that. They crossed a line when they shot his best friend of over twenty years.
“He's going to, but that's barely enough for you to be thinking this hard. How did things go with your parents? You didn't talk about that."
I let out a sigh, “they heard about Caleb and they wanted to know the details of what happened." I explained, leaving out other details.
The news that Caleb got hurt was no longer a secret, but to them, it was nothing serious and he just needed to rest so that his wolf could heal him properly.
“About them, I should be on my way to see them now."
Kaia looked at me once more, worry still etched on her face, not buying my poor excuse of running away. I knew what she wanted to ask, but I was fine, the last thing she needed to worry about was her brother and myself.
“I'll see you when I'm done with them." I assured her, excusing myself before she could say anything else.
The walk to my parents place didn't take long. They were both seated in each other's arms deeply in a conversation but the moment I came in, they separated.
“Hi Dad, Mom.” I greeted.
They both nodded as I sat on the seat opposite them. My Dad called me to come sit beside him which I did without hesitation while my mom just frowned, murmuring something about how he was pampering and I wasn't on his side.
While my Dad's anger towards Kieran was subsiding, understanding that he was only doing it for his mate, my mom was nowhere near being appeased, not that Kieran cared though, she was the least of his problems.
“Alpha Declan of Blackwood is arriving during the weekend, so get ready to host him.” My mom announced suddenly, my body jerked upward before turning to look at her.
"What are you talking about?" I asked her, “I told you yesterday that I wanted nothing to do with that man!" I continued, raising her voice at her.
Rhea was equally angry, letting out a growl, and trying to push her way to the surface.
“He wants you, and his pack being at treaty with us is a good idea.” She replied, not seeing anything wrong with the words coming from her mouth. "As long as your brother decides to keep that…that weak girl, it's up to you to save this Pack.”
"Kaia is not weak,” I snapped, then turned to my dad. "Tell her I'm not going to do it.”
He sighed as he stood up, placing both hands on my shoulders, “Just meet him first. You might change your mind.”
A look of betrayal flashed through my eyes as I moved away from his touch. He was supposed to be on my side. Tears welled up in my eyes as I stormed out of the house, running away from them ignoring my dad's voice for me to come back.
