He’s holding flowers in one hand and taking a call with the other. 

The call is from Jeff. 

“Mr. Raymond, we intercepted the Pennyfeather family’s business before. Now Neil’s in the hospital, and his assistant is handling business. They’re planning to sign a deal with a company that Raymond Corporation blacklisted. The deal was a tmp that could have cost billions of dollars. The Pennyfeather family probably doesn’t have that kind of cash flow. If they sign this deal, they might go bankrupt.” 

Jeff got wind of this from a friend, and considering this involves Mr. Raymond’s wife, he thought he’d give Mr. Raymond a heads up. Maybe he should give Mrs. Raymond a call 

But lan has long been fed up with the Pennyfeather family’s antics. Upon hearing this news, he didn’t react, just responded calmly. 

“If the Pennyfeather family goes bankrupt, it’s none of my business.” 

The words echoed in Maja’s ears, stopping her in her tracks. She turned to look at him, 

It seemed like only then did lan notice her. He casually looked away. Then he told the person on the phone, “I’m at the hospital with Carlene.” After hanging up, he took the elevator up with Maja. 

That sentence kept echoing in Maja’s head. She didn’t understand why lan would say something like that. Had he received some news? Through the reflection in the elevator, lan was also watching her.

Due to her frankness, lan didn’t see any other issues. 

“The boss of the Penny feather family is sick, and an assistant is handling the business.” 

An assistant? 

If Maja isn’t mistaken, that should be Carter. 

But when did the Pennyfeather family’s projects fall into Carter’s hands? He didn’t have any shares. How could he make decisions? 

Her eyes deepened. She was about to go back to her room when she heard him say 

“Remember to apologize to Carlene.” 

Looks like lan intended to hold onto this. 

“Mr. Raymond.” She stopped him again and then touched her neck. 

“Ms. Shepard was injured; I was injured too; we fought.” 

“I’ve already seen the surveillance footage.” 

He cut her off. “Carlene didn’t hurt you, Penny. Considering you’re still in charge of the Greenfield Gardens design, I don’t want you to get involved in legal troubles and have a criminal record, which would cause you a lot of trouble in life.” 

Maja had considered this issue. Now Carlene has the right to ask for injury identification. She had an illusion that lan was asking her to apologize, even helping her. Carlene might just embarrass and scold her if lan steps in, but she won’t pursue responsibility further. 

But is that possible? How could lan help her? Carlene is his beloved.
