Chapter 356
After finishing all the paperwork, he was pretty sure that the dog’s owner wasn’t going to ring him up tonight.
Later, he cleaned himself up and hit the hay.
The next morning, he dialed up Connie, asking her to fetch Coco.
Connie was a bit taken aback.
“You saw my messages. You found it pretty quick.”
When they arrived at Rosewood Manor, she kept yapping, “Why don’t you return it yourself? Penny would be over the moon.”
By then, lan was already at the doorstep, looking sharp in his well–tailored suit that accentuated his elegant physique. As he was adjusting his cuff links, he said, “It’s none of my business whether she’s happy or not.”
Connie was stunned and lowered her head, thinking to herself, “How could he say such a thing when they’ve been intimate?”
With his looks, lan certainly didn’t seem like a playboy.
lan had opened the door and was about to hop in his car.
Connie, leading Coco, followed him.
“Can you give me a lift? I drove here myself; I was afraid to leave Coco in the backseat. If anything happens, I won’t be able to explain to Penny.” lan frowned and shut the car door coldly.
“I’m allergic to dog hair.”
Connie knew this, but since he’d taken Coco in, he could surely tolerate some dog hair.
Sometimes, allergies were all in the mind.
“If I return it, Penny might think I found the dog. Should I tell her that you found Coco?”
Connie wouldn’t miss any chance to bring them closer.
“No need.”
lan rolled up the window, maintaining his aloof demeanor throughout.
Connie scratched her nose, recalling the sound she’d heard that night, and began to doubt whether she’d heard it wrong.
She called Maja, then drove to RosenGarden.
Maja was cleaning her room that day and quickly came downstairs to greet Coco.
Coco excitedly rushed towards Maja, looking adorable.
Connie had a class at noon, so she didn’t visit Maja’s house and told Maja before leaving.
“lan found Coco but was too busy to bring it himself. Penny, don’t be upset; keep trying, and he’ll notice you.”
Maja looked puzzled. Why did she need to try to get lan to notice her?
Connie silently made a “keep going” gesture at her.
Then she drove off.
Maja, leading Coco, stood there pondering.
When she took Coco back upstairs, she ran into Rita, who was heading out.
Upon seeing Coco, Rita immediately jumped back and commented, “It’s so dirty, and you need to control it. If it makes a racket at night, I’ll definitely complain to the property management.”
Maja glanced at Rita’s outfit, clutching a Hermès handbag, probably bought by Ryan.
Noticing her gaze, Rita deliberately held her bag higher.
“This bag, it’s very expensive, over fifty thousand dollars.”
Maja just smiled and didn’t respond. She opened her door and went in.
Rita was angry and eager to determine whether the conflict she had intentionally caused during their last encounter had any impact. She wanted to -confirm if Carlene and Maja had indeed quarreled as she had heard. Rita was frustrated with Maja’s distant behavior.
