lan stayed silent, creating a chilly atmosphere. 

Ryan felt a bit uneasy but tried to comfort him anyway by saying, “Maybe Penny just likes an average guy like her husband. You’re too top–notch. She might feel the pressure when she’s with you. Don’t feel down, buddy.” 

“Where did you get the idea that I’m upset?” 

lan’s face remained expressionless, a picture of stubbornness, “I’m not interested in her.“” 

He got up and headed out, his tone becoming even colder as if he had a sudden thought. 

“And she’s divorced. That guy is just her ex–husband at most. I bet she dumped him. He’s just a pitiful man.” 

lan walked straight to his car. The thought of rushing to the cinema because of her message tonight made him feel a bit ridiculous.

The anger within him almost burned in his chest. He got in the car and floored the gas pedal without hesitation. 

Upon reaching the hotel, Tyler called with the news that the box office had already hit 300 million. 

“lan, congrats to you and Penny. Your investment can at least quintuple.” 

Hearing Penny’s name made lan’s nerves jangle. 

He had no recollection of this movie, so he just made à noncommittal response. 

Tyler was all about the entertainment news. He’d read out loud any hot news for lan as soon as he found it. 

“Shawn Walsh was spotted by paparazzi tonight. He was supposedly with a woman watching a movie. The face is blurry, but it looks like Penny to me.” 

He continued to browse the hot news. With Shawn being so popular now and the movie running in theaters, the news was totally on fire. 

Within an hour, this news made it to the top of the hot news list. 

He chuckled a bit. 

“This isn’t bad, free publicity for the movie. If the box office hits 400 million, your investment with Penny could increase tenfold, considering all the subsequent revenue.” 

But he didn’t hear any response from lan after he rambled on for a while, so he called out his name in confusion, “lan?” 

lan looked out of the window, finally he couldn’t hold back anymore and asked, “Did I have a bad relationship with her before?” 

This “her” was, of course, referring to Maja. 

“I’m not quite sure, but you always said that you didn’t like her.” 

“Did she get divorced because of me?” 

“I really don’t know. We all thought you were just messing around with her. You said it yourself; you hadn’t had enough fun with her yet.” 

Hearing his good friend say that made him feel a bit better. Maybe his head injury and memory confusion were the reasons why his mood was affected by Penny. 

“I got it.” 

Tyler wanted to say something else but found that the call had already ended. 

lan sat down to check his email and saw an email from Funfly Darcy. 

He generally didn’t read emails from personal accounts. Only those from The Raymond Corporation’s top executives would catch his attention. 

He opened the email, in which Funfly first expressed her affection for Shawn, then mentioned Shawn and Penny’s relationship, and finally asked him if he would handle Penny’s affairs. 

lan’s existence made Funfly dare not to take any action against Penny.
