Zoey stood rooted to the spot, unsure of what to do next.
After a few minutes, she noticed the woman emerging from the elevator once again, carrying a takeaway box and heading in her direction.
When Judith reached the reception, she asked briskly, "Isn't Ian in the office today?"
"Ms. Sanders, Mr. Raymond is out for a business engagement."
Judith nodded and turned her gaze toward Zoey and then asked, "Aren't you Maja's assistant?"
Having done her research about Maja, she knew who was in her circle.
Especially Zoey, Maja's right-hand woman.
It hit Zoey then, that was the princess of the Sanders family, the rumored girlfriend of Ian.
She hastily tried to leave, only to hear Judith say, "So, now that Maja can't reach Ian, she sent you to bother him? A CEO stooping so low! Ian doesn't want any entanglement with her, why can't she take the hint?"
Zoey's fingertips clenched at her sides, the innocent tone of the woman fueled her frustration.
She gritted her teeth.
At that moment, Judith stepped forward, batting her large eyes.
"Haven't I already told Maja? She's out of the game, so none of you from the company should come here anymore."
"Ms. Sanders, this is Mr. Raymond's company, not the Sanders family's. I don't really need your permission to be here."
Judith chuckled, looking Zoey up and down.
"No wonder Maja chose you as her assistant, both of you have sharp tongues. But it's a pity, neither of you is competent. You can't even reach the top, what's there to boast about?"
With that, she waved at the receptionist, swinging her skirt as she left them behind.
Zoey was left standing there, fuming at the manipulative woman.
Yet, she couldn't deny the power of her background!
Zoey walked ahead, thinking of who could help her out at that crucial time. Then, she thought of Maria from Rosewood Manor.
Ms. Pennyfeather had some acquaintances at Rosewood Manor, they could investigate!
Zoey slapped her forehead lightly, and quickly headed towards Rosewood Manor.
Meanwhile, in a hotel suite.
Maja had arranged to meet a director there, but he had waited for an hour without her showing up or even giving him a call to inform him about her cause of delay.
"Isn't the CEO a woman? They aren't suited for business."
"Yeah, she's probably at home, putting on makeup. Hahaha."
The men joked harmlessly, then opened the door to a suite, respectfully inviting Ian, "Mr. Raymond, please."
But Ian didn't enter, he spoke in a flat tone, "No need."
The producers' faces changed, looking uneasy, "What's wrong, Mr. Raymond? Did we do something wrong?"
Ian had already turned around, his face cold as he explained, "When you've changed your sexist attitudes, we'll talk."
The producers stood there, humiliated and red-faced, unsure about what they said that upset him.
When Ian stepped into the elevator, the director also entered, standing nervously in a corner. He had just seen Ian give the top producers a piece of his mind and assumed that he must have a bad temper.
Ian slightly raised his head, meeting the director's gaze through the reflective mirror.
The director quickly lowered his gaze, only to hear him ask, "Maja was an hour late?"
"Yes, I called her, but she didn't answer."
