When Chloe got to Connor's place, he was busy on a call. She didn’t want to interrupt, so she quietly settled on the couch and waited. Sitting turned into lying down, and before she knew it, she’d dozed off.

"What? I meant stargazing and chatting about poetry and life’s big questions. Where did your mind wander off to?"

Chloe just shook her head, speechless.

"Who was on the phone earlier?" she asked, having thought she heard the name Lisa.

"The lawyer. They've tracked down the paparazzi who took those photos, and Lisa's about to face the music."

Connor’s expression turned serious. "With charges of drugging, she’s in deep trouble. I'll see to it that she gets what she deserves."

Chloe was taken aback. She’d always seen Lisa as just a jealous, simple-minded person, never realizing the real threat she posed. But Lisa had nearly destroyed her, sitting on a damning video for three years, waiting to strike.
