Linda was the one who sent them. A few photos had come through, and both she and Chloe were dressed head to toe in white. Linda was in her wedding dress, while Chloe was rocking a bridesmaid's dress that could easily rival the bridal gown in design and fabric.
Together, they looked like they belonged on a magazine cover—complementing each other perfectly, like the sun and the moon sharing the sky. Chloe had just mentioned she’d be a bridesmaid for Linda, but for some reason, Connor felt a strange unease when he looked at the photo. Linda's satisfied smile, with a glimmer of tears in her eyes, was oddly unsettling.
Connor couldn't shake off the uncomfortable feeling in his gut. The last time he felt this way was when he thought Chloe had a thing for Lucas. But why did he feel so on edge about Linda? It was almost laughable, he thought. Yet, the more he stared at the photo, the more things didn’t sit right with him.
Linda had what she wanted. Why would she hang around? Connor reflected on Linda’s past antics, and his face grew more serious. Could there be more to this?
Chloe came back soon after. She hadn't eaten at the cafeteria but had brought her meal back with her. Connor was in the middle of a video call, and Chloe settled on the sofa, eating her takeout. Connor seemed distracted, his gaze often drifting towards Chloe.
The meeting wrapped up quickly, and Chloe was still working on her meal. Connor joined her, but he kept his thoughts to himself. He wasn’t sure about his suspicions and voicing them would only stir up unnecessary trouble. Better to see what Linda was really up to first.
She hated the Meadows family for abandoning her. Desperate, she called Ann. Chloe was tight with Ann now, and maybe Ann could convince Chloe to drop the charges. Ideally, Ann could even get a letter of forgiveness, making the police back off and let her go.
Ann showed up quickly, clueless about Lisa's situation. Once she arrived, the police laid out the whole story. Ann discovered Lisa was detained because she had drugged Chloe three years ago, intending to ruin her reputation.
In the visitation room, Lisa, handcuffed, was brought in. The policewoman by her side sternly announced, “You’ve got fifteen minutes to talk. Make it count.”
