The shareholders all got to their feet, chiming in, "Jeffery, don't worry, we've got the new Ms. Claire's back all the way."

Jeffery was out the door in no time. Claire, on the other hand, had just about reached her breaking point. She stood up, ready to make her exit too.

"Ms. Bennett, hang on a sec, I've got something to announce," someone called out.

Claire, not in the mood to cooperate, grabbed her purse. "Whatever it is, can wait. Right now, I've got an appointment at the salon."

Connor stayed cool as a cucumber, lounging in his seat with a knowing grin, watching Claire. "Ms. Bennett, I'll be calling a shareholders' meeting shortly to discuss some company changes. You might regret walking out now."

Claire knew the score. Connor had just taken the reins and was trying to test her mettle, hoping to embarrass her in front of everyone. But Claire wasn't about to play his game. Without a word, she strode out of the meeting room.

As soon as Claire left, Diana followed, wheeling herself out of the room. But she hadn't gone far when she felt a sudden force steering her wheelchair in a different direction. She realized someone was behind her. Turning around, she saw it was Chloe.

Chloe pushed her wheelchair into a quiet corridor. Diana snapped, "Chloe, what are you doing? Let me go!"

Chloe stayed silent, pushing the wheelchair until they reached a secluded spot and finally stopped. Diana was livid.

Diana was rattled but quickly gathered herself. "Settle what score? If anyone should be settling scores, it should be me with you."

Chloe smirked, straightening up and crossing her arms. "So now you're twisting things to suit your story."

"Isn't it the truth? My situation now, isn't it because of you?" Diana shot back.

Chloe let out a dry laugh, looking at her in disbelief. "You're emotionally fragile, couldn't handle Connor getting married, had an accident, and think it's our fault? We shouldn't have gotten married? Well, if I get sick every time I see you, should you not exist either?"
