Diana's face turned beet red. "You're just twisting things around."

"Diana, come on, stop acting like a kid. You're an adult, and you need to own up to your actions and choices."

Diana knew these truths well enough. But accepting that she was now disabled? That was a whole different story. And even harder was acknowledging that it was her own doing.

She paused, letting the words linger, but soon her focus returned, and she grew agitated. She turned to Chloe, her eyes blazing with resentment. "Chloe, it's your fault. You took away my happiness."

Chloe showed no hint of guilt in the face of Diana's accusations. Instead, she just laughed softly. "I didn't hurt anyone. I've been with Connor for three years, and during that time, I didn't even know you existed. Most of what you're saying is just in your head."

"I think what Connor regrets most is pampering you too much. He wanted you to be an independent eagle, but you chose to be a caged bird. That's your choice, and I've got no business meddling in your life, nor do I care to preach to you."

Chloe smiled, slipping her phone back into her coat pocket. "So, Diana, did you really think I didn't call you out yesterday because I'm nice?"

Diana sat there, stunned in her wheelchair. She had suspected Chloe and Pax had some evidence. She guessed they might use the video to pressure her. But she didn't expect Chloe to demand such a steep price right off the bat.
