Chloe's POV

The moment I saw the same potion on Alpha Sabre’s hand, I immediately knew the other party’s identity.

It was none other than Blake, my heart is sure!

The only thing that made me wonder was that, at this moment, I could not feel a hint of our mate bond for some reason. However, that question in my mind quickly changed when I saw what Alpha Sabre or rather, Blake did next.

Without hesitation, he took a knife and cut the palm of his hand so swiftly.

“What are you doing Blake!” The last bit of my rationality allowed me to send a mindlink directly to him clearly knowing what he is about to do next.

However my words of warning seemed to have not reached his ears as he did not even have second thoughts in pouring the poison directly in his hands.

“The poison is lethal! It could kill you within seconds!” Panic rushed over me because I knew how lethal the poison was as the creator myself.

Gasps were heard all around as all eyes were focused on Blake’s bloodied hand as they visibly saw the wound stop bleeding in an instant.

“It immediately closes up the wound and is really perfect for a quick first aid during an ambush…” Blake as Alpha Sabre explained. “Too bad, if this potion allowed instant healing it would be ten times more precious than any potion I knew.”

Alpha Kain finally changed his expression as he sent the healers to check ‘Alpha Sabre’s’ would. The healers took a look and immediately confirmed that there were no traces of wounds in Blake’s hand.

Of course they could never trace it! The instant blood clotting of the wound was actually a side effect of the potion immediately attacking the veins and arteries of the victim until the poison reaches the heart! This poison could kill the victim within less than a minute!

“Hmm… it is, as you said, Alpha Sabre…” Alpha Kain finally looked at me and his hostile expression eased a little bit.

It seems like he had already given up the idea that our party was the one who poisoned the aides as he nonchalantly flicked his hand to give the small vial back.

But I was no longer in the mood to feel relieved! I know that it is a race against time, Blake might die within the next minute!

I tried sending another mindlink towards Blake but to no avail.

He was no longer responding and I could not even see the changes in his face due to his mask to gauge the gravity of the poisoning.

“Blake, you need to take the antidote!” I urged him once more, “I had it here, you must take it right away!”

As the seconds passed, the panic in my heart increased. More than the fact that he might die at any moment, a deep pain pierced my heart once more knowing that he did it to save me from the predicament.

Again, he had sacrificed himself without hesitation just for me.

A complicated feeling aroused within me, battling over the hurt and longing, deeply confusing what I should really feel at the moment.

All I know right now is that I do not want to see him gone.

“Blake, I have already lost a piece of me… Don’t die!” No longer thinking about the contrasting emotions I battle with, I send him a message one last time.

“... don’t worry… I won’t die…” Suddenly I finally heard a reply toward me as I felt a warm gaze coming from his direction.

I stared at the spot where he stood blankly, trying to imagine the emotions he held behind his mask.

With only a few words, I somehow felt at ease, much to my own confusion and unwillingness.
