Blake's POV

“Sigh… What am I gonna do with you? You’ve done such a reckless thing again!”

After administering the antidote to Chloe’s poison, Arthur started his barrage of lecture toward me in the lounge area.

“The situation calls for my intervention… You know that well.” Shrugging as I rested my back on the sofa, I answered.

“But you almost died because of that! What would you do if Alpha Kain did not even give us a chance to leave the hall? Are you just going to collapse and bring even more chaos at that moment?!”

The reprimand in Arthur’s tone was so intense that his voice would surely ring out of the room, fortunately, we kept communicating through mindling through and through.

“I would create an opportunity to take the antidote myself… I am not so foolish to allow myself to be killed when I know that Chloe is right in front of the enemy…” I looked at Arthur and the rest of my companions, some of which were warriors from the original Frost Fang Pack.

My gaze turned cold as I clenched my fist and continued,

“It was most likely that if I did not stop her at that moment that they would use force and blow their own covers to escape the situation. Arthur, you know that if I were to face Kain at this moment, I would not be sure if I could win against him alone…”

“Knowing that, do you think I would be fine having Chloe do such a reckless thing?”

There was no response to the other side as a suffocating silence took over. All of us knew the truth, Alpha Kain had gotten stronger than we had expected. Even I, the so-called Lycan King, had to think twice before I could face him at the moment.

“Now, now… In the end, aren’t we all safe?” The strongest warrior representing the Frost Fang Pack, Idris, commented. “Although, Lycan King, I kind of agree with Arthur. I would prefer for you to no longer do such a reckless thing in the future…”

I looked at my companions and sighed. “Indeed… I must still maintain the trust between our packs.”

“That’s reassuring to hear, Lycan King.” Idris replied politely.

Arthur’s nagging still continued for quite a while until the servants came and informed us that the commotion in the banquet hall had died down.

It was already the next morning when we were all summoned to Alpha Kain’s conference office along with the other high ranking officials and Alphas under his leadership.

“What do you think would be Alpha Kian's next move? I wonder what the conclusion was regarding the assassination of the aides…” Arthur could not help but ask as we were walking along the way.

“We can only see for ourselves when we get there… Let’s all prepare, this will be the first time we will be seeing all of Alpha Kain’s network. Do not miss this opportunity.” I ordered.

When we got into the hall, there were already a lot of people in the meeting hall. A tense and serious atmosphere invaded the entire room as I looked at the ferocious faces of the people inside.

Sweeping my gaze as I found our seats, I realized that Chloe’s persona was no longer around. I extended my senses and tried to see if she was still around and found out that her aura could no longer be traced. She must have come back along with the rest of the guests from last night’s banquet.

It did not take that long before the doors of the room opened once more and saw Alpha Kain and a group of elders going in.
