Chapter 1652

Their eyes met, one coyly gentle, the other startled. Neither spoke for a moment, until Xavier realized he was still holding Norah’s hand. He quickly let go, his brow furrowing in confusion, “What are you doing here?”

Norah grinned at him from across the table, her eyes twinkling mischievously. The fact that we can gaze at the moon together, isn’t it like fate’s little gift

to us?”

Xavier stared back at the young woman, “Shouldn’t you be with your family? You should go back.”

“Can you stop trying to get rid of me?” Norah huffed, cradling her left wrist in complaint, “Why so rough? See, you’ve left a mark!”

Xavier frowned, his voice soft, “Let me see”

Norah scooted over to his side, extending her wrist for his examination, “See for yourself.”

Her skin was naturally fair and Xavier’s grip had been strong. The resulting bruise on her wrist was strikingly prominent.

Xavier, a man who hadn’t even flinched when a bullet pierced his shoulder, found the bruise on the young girl’s wrist to be shockingly distressing. He spoke in a grave tone, “Stay here.”

There was a bar nearby. Xavier approached, asking for some analgesic ointment.

The bartender was polite, phoning the customer service department. In a few minutes, the ointment was delivered.

Xavier thanked them, taking the ointment back.

Norah had been watching him the whole time, resembling an obedient little girl. As he sat down, she immediately extended her wrist for him to apply the

ointment.

Xavienuncapped the ointment, grasping her hand. He dabbed some onto a cotton ball and carefully applied it to her bruised wrist. The potent scent of Arnica filled the air.

“The ointment doesn’t smell great, but it works well. Just bear with it, Xavier spoke, his movements a tad rough but his expression serious.

Norah giggled, “It’s not that bad!”

Xavier glanced at her, “Next time, don’t joke around like that behind my back. I might hurt you”

Norah’s playful grin didn’t waver, “If you hurt me, I’ll just have to stick to you!”

Xavier’s hand, holding the medicinal cotton ball, tightened slightly. Norah winced, “Gently!”

Her tone was teasing, but Xavier’s expression remained stoic, “If you can’t even handle this much pain, think of your safety and don’t be so ruthless!”

Norah stopped laughing, looking down in silence.

After applying the ointment, Xavier handed her the bottle, “Take this home. Apply it three times a day. It should heal quickly,”

Norah held her wrist up to him, her eyes pleading, “It still hurts. Blow on it?”
