Lennon thought briefly and then spoke his mind, “Currently, I don’t have any leads, but I should have an answer soon. Some things always leave traces when done. Last night, I already asked someone to report to the police, and they are investigating.” 

Mariela lowered her eyes, deep in thought. 

After long pause, she spoke in a flat tone, “Jaime visited me last night.” 

Lennon’s arm around her gripped tighter.“Why did he come?” 

Mariela said, her voice gentle, “He came to tell me you were with Dalia last night. He said you sent someone to get Dalia from the police. He tried to mislead me, making me think Dalia might be pregnant with your child.” 

Lennon asked softly, “What do you feel inside?” 

Mariela replied, “Honestly, I was so anxious and upset that my hands trembled. I feared you had betrayed me. But then I realized he was trying to separate us. I trust you won’t cheat on me.” 

At this point, Mariela’s voice had a touch of sadness. She murmured, “I didn’t expect Dalia to be killed last night.” 

Lennon patted Mariela’s back gently to comfort her, “It’s fine, Marie. Even if you doubted me, it wouldn’t have mattered. I would have explained everything to you. I’m glad you trust me. I didn’t expect Dalia’s death either.” 

Mariela asked quietly, “Was Dalia forced? When she kidnapped Angel, her hand shook while holding the dagger, and she looked very nervous and scared. She didn’t seem inherently evil.” 

Lennon nodded. 

“She was coerced.” 

Mariela clung to Lennon tightly.“Lenny, the person orchestrating this must be a ruthless madman. You need to be careful too.” 

His gaze was piercing, his jaw clenched.“Don’t worry about me. I will be vigilant.”
