Deandre seemed very dissatisfied. He sighed and took a sip of medicine without speaking anymore. 

After Lennon roughly explained the information about the killer, he left a bank card and said, “This is my apology. Please accept it.” Deandre was very dissatisfied in his heart. He wasn’t short of money. His gaze fell on that card.“What’s the use of this? It’s better to catch Nikolas as soon as possible.” 

In front of his father–in–law, Lennon repeatedly made concessions for Mariela with a good attitude. 

He nodded slightly, “That’s true.” 

Before Lennon left, Mariela put away her computer and said softly, “Lenny, I’m going with you,” 

Deandre looked over coldly, and his face slightly turned dark. 

Mariela sighed, “Dad, they hurt you to force me to show up. Only when I show up, you, Haleigh, and Angel will be safe.” 

Haleigh was taken aback.“Mariela, we have bodyguards now, so nothing will happen again. But you must be careful!” Deandre snorted, “If your marriage will bring us a deadly disaster, there will be no need to continue with the marriage.” 

Mariela froze. She felt so cold, as if she had fallen into an ice cave. 

She was well aware that Deandre was serious. He was not kidding. 

What made her feel most powerless was that she had no position to oppose. 

It was her sister and father who were hurt, not herself. She couldn’t let her family be hurt repeatedly because of her love. 

“Dad,” Mariela’s voice was somewhat down, “I have to talk to Lenny.” 

Deandre said in a low voice, “You guys should have a good talk.”

It was warm in the car. 

Lennon took off his coat and was wearing a black shirt and a tie. He looked like a business elite. It seemed he had just returned from the Stark Group. 

“Lenny,” Mariela said, “let’s talk.” 

Lennon lowered his eyes, concealing his emotions, and asked, “What do you want to talk about?” 

Mariela felt pain in her heart. She was going to say those words, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t

her mouth. 

Her family was repeatedly hurt, so she couldn’t be so selfish that she only thought about her love and happiness. Yesterday Angel was kidnapped, and today her dad got injured. What about tomorrow? Was it Haleigh or herself?
