Mariela went to the Logan’s place. 

Both Haleigh and Deandre were at home.

Mariela entered the house, and Haleigh greeted her with a smile.“Marie, you are home. Lunch will be ready soon. Go wash your hands first.” When Mariela woke up with a headache, it was already 11 a.m. She quickly took a shower, dressed up, and drove home. Fortunately, she didn’t miss lunch. 

Angelica ran over in her leather shoes and hugged Mariela’s leg.“Marie!” 

Grinning, Mariela took out a gift from her bag and handed it to Angelica.“Angel, Happy New Year!” 

With a sweet smile, Angelica took the gift and then planted a kiss on Mariela’s face. 

Deandre handed over a bag and said to Mariela, “Your gifts.” 

Confused, Mariela took the bag and opened it. 

Inside the bag were a car key and the deed of an apartment. 

Deandre explained blandly, “Marie, the apartment is close to your law firm, so it is convenient for you to go to work from there. The apartment 

is my gift, and the car was chosen by Haleigh. The car is in the garage. You may go to see it after lunch.” 

Mariela was moved and felt warm.“Thank you, Dad. Thank you, Haleigh.” 

She accepted the kindness of her family. 

After lunch, Mariela checked her phone and noticed a friend request on her WhatsApp. 

Instantly, her heart tightened. 

Holding her breath, she clicked the request. Then, disappointment got her. 

The friend request wasn’t from Lennon. 

Jaime tried to friend Mariela on WhatsApp with an alternate account after his old one was on her blacklist. 

Mariela recognized Jaime because he had left some messages. 

“Did you

with Lennon?” 

“As I told you, men are all alike. You didn’t believe me. Marie, come back to me.” 

These two messages disgusted Mariela very much. 

She didn’t add Jaime as a friend. Besides, she refused to accept new messages from his alternate account. 

The car Haleigh had chosen was a white Rolls–Royce Phantom. Mariela drove the new car away and left the blue Bentley, a gift from Lennon, in the garage. 

The apartment was in a high–end neighborhood near the law firm, so it was expensive. It was a fully furnished penthouse of over 2000 square feet, and its interior decor was of French style.
