He walked in, reeking of alcohol and coldness. His eyes scanned the room as he took in the house with a faint expression. 

Deandre treated Marie well, and the house seemed decent enough. 

Lucy placed a glass of water on the coffee table in the living room and said, “Mr. Stark, please have a seat and rest for a while. I will be right 

back.” 

“Where’s her room?” 

Lucy pointed toward Mariela’s bedroom.“Ms. Logan’s room is the first one on the left.” 

Lennon couldn’t spare time to rest. He hurried toward her room. 

The door was not locked. Lennon opened it and walked in, just in time to hear Mariela talking in her sleep. 

“Lenny, Lenny…” 

She cried out, “Why don’t you want me…” 

Lennon’s heart clenched at her cries. 

He stepped closer to the bed. 

Marie was still mumbling in her sleep. 

“Lennon, you’re a jerk… I don’t want you… Go away…” 

Lennon lowered his gaze, his eyelashes trembling. He gently reached out to wipe away her tears. His tone was as soft as a stream of water.“Yeah, I am a jerk.” 

Mariela seemed to sense Lennon’s presence, instinctively moving closer to him.“Lenny…”
