Lennon’s heart tightened.“How did she get sick?” 

Lucy said, “It seems like she caught the flu at the airport during her business trip. She fell ill as soon as she got back.”

Hanging up the phone, Lennon immediately called Carsen and informed him about Marie’s illness, asking him to have his sister Caylee go and check on Marie. 

As soon as Caylee heard that Marie was sick, she immediately made a phone call. 

“Marie, why didn’t you tell me when you were sick? Are you alone at home now?” 

Marie nestled in her blanket and answered the phone, her voice hoarse from a cold.“Mmm, just a cold. I’m getting better soon.” 

“I will come to see you later. Are you available?” 

“No need, Caylee. I went to the hospital a couple of days ago and got an IV drip. The doctor prescribed medication, and I’ve been taking it for two days. I just finished taking the medicine and I’m about to take a nap. I should almost recover when I wake up.” 

“Your voice sounds so hoarse. It doesn’t seem like you’re recovering quickly,” Caylee said with concern.“I’ll bring the family doctor to see you 

later.” 

Marie said, “There is no need to bother.” 

“Marie, we’re friends.” 

An hour later, Caylee rang the doorbell at Marie’s house. 

Before long, there came very light footsteps from inside the house. 

Marie opened the door listlessly. 

Caylee looked at the pale and sickly face behind the door and exclaimed, “Marie, how did you become like this?” 

Marie responded weakly, “I’m not feeling well.” 

Caylee hurriedly supported Marie and said, “I brought a family doctor for you. Let the doctor check you again.”

After the doctor examined her, he gave Marie a shot and prescribed medication. 

Caylee breathed a sigh of relief when she heard the doctor say that Marie would be better tomorrow.“Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve. You can celebrate the holiday,” she said.

Marie slept until she woke up. 

She opened her phone and saw several missed calls. 

They were from Deandre, Haleigh, as well as her best friends Fiona and Caylee. 

It was nothing more than asking her if she was feeling better or wishing her a Happy New Year. 

Marie called Deandre and said she would come home for the holiday later. 

“Marie, do you want to come home for lunch? We are waiting for you.” 

Marie checked her phone. It was already Il o’clock. She still had time to go back and have lunch.“Okay.” 

The car entered the villa area and headed towards the Logan’s villa. The familiar Cullinan appeared. When Marie saw the license plate, she found it was Lennon’s car.
