“Last–minute notice.” Lennon glanced at his watch. “It’s getting late. I have to hurry and leave after taking the documents.” 

Bella’s eyebrows furrowed with displeasure, and her tone carried a hint of reproach.“Have dinner first. If anything happens, I’ll cover for you.” 

“Well, that’s not going to happen.” Lennon still had that nonchalant tone. “You alone can’t represent the company. Just wait. You’ll receive a call soon to attend the board meeting.” 

After speaking, Lennon disregarded the people in the hall and nonchalantly went upstairs. 

Downstairs, the Phillips family looked at each other in dismay. 

Tomas was the first to speak. “Does Lenny not know that today’s meal is a mutually agreed arrangement between our two families for him to officially meet Kara?” 

Although Tomas was two years older than Bella, he still had to be respectful due to her social status. 

Tomas‘ words were fairly decent. 

Aimee’s displeasure was clear.“Bella, what does your grandson mean by this? Kara stood in front of him and he didn’t even say hello. Was he pretending not to know or did he not know what this meal meant?”

Bella felt displeased, but she put on a smile when the Phillips family questioned her.“You misunderstood. Perhaps my grandson was in a hurry to go to the study and didn’t have time to say hello. When he comes downstairs, I will formally introduce Kara to him.” 

Aimee wanted to say something more, but she was stopped by a glance from Tomas. 

Lauryn sat next to Bella and accidentally locked eyes with Kara. 

Kara raised a polite smile. 

Lauryn was very jealous, and she coldly looked away.
