Bryce then suddenly asked “Wasn’t your ex–boyfriend Lennon?” 

Mariela was somewhat surprised and said, “You know all this? Bryce pushed his glasses up and answered, “I heard it from Fiona.” The truth was that Bryce had been paying attention to Marie and Lennon, but at the moment, Bryce was not at liberty to say it outright. Mariela explained somewhat awkwardly, “Jaime was my first boyfriend. I met him in Los Angeles when I went there to work after graduating. After breaking up with him, I returned to New York to prepare to marry Lennon. However, some things happened, and Lennon and I also broke up. 

Bryce nodded and didn’t say anything else. 

Mariela added, “I will handle these flower baskets immediately. Don’t worry, I won’t let Jaime affect the normal operation of our law firm.”

Mariela made a phone call to have someone from the domestic help firm come over to dean the flower baskets. 

The staff of the domestic help firm were very efficient. In less than half an hour, they cleared all sixty–six flower baskets. 

The decorator started working again. 

Mariela led Bryce around this floor as the two discussed the layout of the office space. 

When the decorator took a break, he said with a smile, “Ms. Logan, do you run a law firm with your boyfriend?” 

When Mariela feels embarrassed, she unconsciously blushes. She quickly shook her head and denied, “You misunderstood. He is my partner, not my boyfriend. 

The decorator scratched his head apologetically, saying, “Sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought he was your boyfriend. You two really look like a couple.* 

“No, no,” Mariela denied once again. 

Bryce stood aside without speaking, with a somewhat indifferent expression. 

Mariela glanced at Bryce apologetically. Noticing the subtle change in Bryce’s expression, Mariela said somewhat embarrassedly, “I didn’t expect the decorator to misunderstand and cause you trouble. I’m sorry.” 

Bryce smiled and jokingly said, “Do you really not want to have any relationship with me? I can tell you’re eager to deny it.” 

“What?” Mariela was a bit confused and said, “I didn’t mean that. I was just afraid of causing you trouble and also afraid of your misunderstanding.” 

Bryce looked at Marie with a faint smile, saying, “What are you afraid I’ll misunderstand?” 

Mariela looked away, pursed her lips, and remained silent. 

Bryce seemed to see through what was on Mariela’s mind. Bryce said jokingly, “Are you afraid I’ll mistake you for liking me?”
