Lennon’s eyes turned cold, a mocking smile on his lips. “I never expected them to rescue her anyway.” 

Matthew said, “Dustin will take action tonight.” 

Early the next morning, a light rain fell from the sky. 

In early March, the spring breeze acted as a brush, the light rain as ink, painting the vitality of spring. 

Rainy days were perfect for sleeping. 

But Mariela hadn’t been sleeping well lately and naturally woke up around 7 a.m. 

The morning was chilly. Mariela wore a pure white silk nightgown, draped a shawl over her shoulders, and leaned against the floor–to–ceiling window, gazing at the rain outside, letting her mind wander. 

The rain pattered softly, and the air was damp. 

In this weather, she suddenly felt like taking a walk in the rain with an umbrella. 

She decided to go without hesitation. 

Mariela changed into a light gray sweater and light blue straight–leg jeans. 

As soon as she went downstairs, Mariela saw a familiar car. 

A black Bentley with a license plate number of five eights. 

Lennon looked up and saw Mariela standing in the rain with an umbrella, slightly startled. 

He hadn’t expected Mariela to come downstairs at that hour. 

Lennon quickly grabbed an umbrella and got out of the car, walking towards Mariela. 

Mariela stood still, watching the familiar figure approach, his sharply defined, handsome face becoming clearer in the rain. 

Within a few steps, the man’s face seemed softened by the moisture, his cold, hard features becoming gentler. 

Lennon stopped in front of Mariela, his dark eyes filled with tenderness and joy, his voice slightly hoarse, “Marie…” 

Mariela’s eyes were cool, tilting her face slightly to look at him. “What is it?” 

Lennon’s Adam’s apple bobbed.“Angel has been rescued.”
