“Not really,” he said, his tone light and reading to just taking a break from the hustle.” 

Mariela scoffed Do you not trust our firm? Is that why you keep showing up to inspect us every other day? 

Lennon looked at her, his lips curving into a faint smile “It’s not the firm 1 don’t trust. It’s someone else? 

“Someone?” Mariels furrowed her brow, 

Lennon slightly said, “Bryce” 

“Mariela was taken aback “Has he offended you?” 

Lennon chuckled “He’s trying to steal someone from me. Doesn’t that count as offending me?” 

Mariela didn’t know what to say,

After a brief pause, Lennon’s lips curled into a proud smile.“But my woman isn’t that easy to steal I saw that brat sulking these past few days. He probably got rejected.” 

Mariela rolled her eyes and pointed to a stack of papers on her desk.“If you’re really that bored, why don’t you go shred these for me?” 

“Sure,” Lennon agreed readily. 

He stood up, walked over, and picked up the stack of papers. 

But instead of leaving right away, he leaned in closer, his voice low and husky.“Ms. Logan, you haven’t told me where the shredder is.” 

He was too close. The scent of his woody cologne filled her senses. 

His deep, slightly raspy voice made her heart skip a beat. 

He must have done it on purpose. 

Mariela blushed with anger.

you see that huge shredder right there?” she snapped. 

“Where is it?” 

“It’s right over there.” Mariela instinctively turned her head and pointed, her lips accidentally brushing against Lennon’s lips. 

Mariela suddenly stood up and exclaimed, “Lennon!” 

He had leaned in a bit more, which was why her lips had brushed against his when she turned her
