“Poisoned?” Rayne was stunned, scarcely able to believe what she heard. 

The doctor spouted a bunch of technical terms, which left Rayne bewildered. 

The doctor then re–explained it in a simpler language, and Rayne finally got it. 

Royce had been poisoned with a slow–acting poison. This poison dissolved in water, was colorless and odorless. Small, occasional doses wouldn’t cause obvious symptoms. But over time, it would seep into the vital organs and eventually prove fatal. 

While Mariela was still in the throes of rescue, Royce was rushed back into the emergency room. 

After getting the hospital’s critical condition notice, Rayne signed it, feeling completely dazed. 

Some details started to crystalize in her mind. 

Rayne had noticed Royce’s rather severe hair loss lately. 

But she didn’t think much of it, just assuming it was due to his age. After all, many men of this 

suffered from significant hair loss, some even going bald.
