I strived my level best to simplify the complex topic of DNA test, calling it a faulty record to explain the situation to a kid. Obviously, it was difficult for a little girl to understand this grown up's mess.

Jane's round eyes gawked at me as she clutched that teddy bear to her chest, her fingers splayed wide over it.

"What are you saying, mommy?

My daddy's name is Bright. You said that before."

My heart flipped in my chest, raising fine hair across my body. I felt embarrassed in front of my daughter.
