Leo's heart illness kept us on our toes for the whole day; the doctors worked hard to stabilize his condition. Henry went to see Melody and then discussed the treatment for Leo. The cardiologist advised us,

"Keep Mr. Leo happy. Please don't give him any tension or shock. It's fatal for his health."

As the doctor suggested, I took Jane to the hospital with Zoe for his therapy session the next day. A physiatrist was a better option for my son to process this ordeal of abduction. I was his mother, but we just met, adjusting to a kid's nature was definitely a point where we both needed professional help.

Anyway, we waited outside when Zoe was in therapy. The psychiatrist, Dr. Jason, was quite hopeful after the first session.

"Zoe has a higher IQ level than his peers, his emotional intelligence really amazed me. He has responded well to the counselling session.

He won't need any medicine. I am certain he'll be perfectly fine soon."

Dr. Jason asked me to bring Zoe for the next session on Friday and left. Jane tugged to his arm and spoke gleefully.

"I know that you are strong like superman, brother."

Her encouragement brought a shy smile to Zoe's face, he looked cute like a puppy.

"Big brothers are always strong, Jane. Dad said that it's my duty to take care of you."

Zoe's statement changed the course of my thought process, reminding me of Leo. So, I went to his room with the kids to see him. Meanwhile, Henry had gone to see Melody in a psych hold.

We knocked on the door before opening it, Leo was lying on the hospital bed like a chronic patient. His meek condition worried our kids, Zoe ran towards him.

"Dad, how are you feeling now?"

He showed great concern towards Leo's deteriorating situation, his love for his dad was evident from his queries. He held his hand and cried out.

"I am so sorry, dad. You were shot because of me."

Zoe overheard our conversation and figured out the real reason behind Leo's hospital stay, his anguished apology ached my heart.

Leo stroked his head lovingly, "It's ok, champ. I know you have done nothing wrong."

Then he brought up the topic of our living arrangements and asked Zoe.

"Are you behaving well in mom's house, champ? Did you follow her rules?"

"Mommy, why aren't you unlocking the car? Is there any issue?"

"Yeah!" I spoke hurriedly, "Mommy has lost car keys. We will wait for a cab now."

Zoe didn't seem comfortable with the idea of a taxi, he said,

"Mommy, did you lose the keys in the hospital? We can go back and get them. Dad says losing such important items is bad!"

I wasn't aware of Leo's parenting style, but he had strictly taught Zoe about the consequences of his actions. He remembered all the places where I unzipped my bag and clapped happily.

"You only opened your bag at the nurse's station and dad's room, mommy. We can look for keys there."

Zoe's enthusiasm for this quest melted my heart, seeing him excited for ordinary stuff was the highlight of my day. As it wasn't a big favor to ask, I cancelled the ride and returned to Leo's room, that was the only place where I took my cell phone from my bag. Perhaps, the keys also slipped out at that time.

However, a distinct conversation resonating in the hallway perked up my ears from afar, I focused on the voices more. They were Leo and James, talking about a matter related to public perception. But Leo's energetic laughter left me bewildered.

"I am pleased by your strategies, James. Good work!"
