Henry saw my car in the parking lot. My driver informed him about Zoe, so he didn’t take too long and came to support me.
"The court has given you the guardianship of Zoe, it doesn’t mean that he can’t talk to Laura on the phone or join us at her Villa for a visit.
Don’t act like you haven’t done it earlier!"
Henry counted Leo’s all uninvited and unannounced visits, warning him.
"I can see where you are coming from, Leo. You are trying to guilt-trip Laura into giving in, accepting your request for patching up.
But keep one thing in mind, Leo!
It won’t happen on my watch!"
Henry’s accurate guess dawned on me that Leo was a sly manipulator, using our son’s sickness to fool me. I felt my body growing hotter as I hissed at him.
"Leo, our son isn’t a puck for a player like you. Stopping hitting him to score a goal. You will get nothing in the end!"
And walked out of the hospital, Henry praised me for my strong defense.
"Leo was badly in need of a fact check, Laura. You did great.
He deserves this dose!"
Henry’s vigilant stance didn’t fail to catch any danger looming over me, he was skilled in spotting any inconvenience from afar. I was deeply moved by his help today, so I expressed my heartfelt emotions without any hesitation.
"Thank you, brother!
You have taken great care of Jane, and now you are protecting Zoe as well. I am certain that you will be a good father to your own kids."
Tugging his arm like a child, I voiced out my wish to be Aunt, as Henry was still unmarried.
"You must bring your girlfriend home now, brother. We will arrange your wedding ceremony, and by next year, I will be the aunt.
Then we will be a complete family."
Henry let out a disapproving grunt and scoffed.
"Why do I need a girlfriend or a so-called family when I have you guys, Laura?"
He took out his cell phone and showed me his pics of me, Jane and Zoe.
"See, isn’t this my family? I have to protect you like I promised, Laura. You are my responsibility!"
My brother’s unconditional love warmed my heart, I rested my head on his shoulder and vowed.
"I will try my best to find the woman in Henry’s heart."
…
As we planned earlier, I went to watch Bright’s match. Jane couldn’t come due to her science project. Her teacher gave her the task of collecting metals, so she went to the market with Henry. But we were going to have dinner together.
So, when my cell phone buzzed in the last half of the match, I thought that Henry had dropped Jane at the stadium. I left the match at a critical point and came out to see her, but she wasn’t there.
However, I met my son, Zoe, wearing a Pink Panther hoodie.
"Mommy!!!"
Zoe ran as fast as his tiny legs could and wrapped his arms around my legs.
"Why did you leave me alone at the hospital? I was so scared, mommy!"
"Leo is blackmailing me to change my mind!"
Yes!
It could only be the reason, as he tagged along everywhere I went today, but his arrival at the stadium cost me my reputation. Leo’s overzealous fans literally attacked me.
"Miss Laura, aren’t you going too far in your selfishness?"
They all surrounded me like a criminal and started filming this scene,
"Your son is suffering, why don’t you live with Mr. Leo? After all, he loves you unconditionally, Miss Laura."
Their collective queries and loud shouts twisted my guts, dropping my heart to my stomach. I was so harassed that I couldn’t bear it.
The fans looked so enraged that I feared a flying punch hitting me in no time, seriously regretting my mistake of coming here alone.
Thankfully, a group of men instantly came to my rescue. I recognized the head of Bright’s security staff as he flashed his gun before that crowd.
"Stop persecuting Miss Laura. Otherwise, I will call the police!"
But it was in vain!
Leo’s fans were ready to go to jail for him. One of them even yelled,
"You can’t threaten us with the police. Miss Laura is tormenting our idol. We want an elucidation!"
I was on the verge of bursting into tears when Bright’s assertive tone resonated in the surroundings, silencing the whole opposition at once.
"Laura has no obligations to give an explanation to a bunch of strangers!"
