My heart skipped a beat as I was scared stiff under Aaron's watchful gaze, shaking in my boots. His out of the blue question scared me out of my wits. The feeling of being caught palpitated my figure as I was shunned, unable to utter a single word in response.

The deafening silence suffocated me as Aaron squinted his nose and spoke seriously.

"One should be blind to work so hard for my little sister. She isn't that pretty, Laura"

Sienna didn't pay any heed to my opinion about the relationship as if she couldn't understand my point and charged at her brother.

"Just wait for me to go home. I will complain to dad about your mean remarks.

She threatened Aaron with her dad's affection, simply diverting the conversation. Her warning made Aaron giggle; he countered her attack.

"Don't worry. I will tell mom that you can't shut your mouth despite being engaged. She will teach you some basic manners to behave respectfully in public"

Their cheerful banter was a glimpse of a soundly connected family, where parents were actively involved in their children's lives. It wasn't strange that they had picked a boy for Sienna without giving her a chance to connect with him emotionally.

Now, I realized that she was young, naïve, and a carefree girl, not so serious about the significant development of her life. One could easily say that she was also a victim of a political alliance.

The elders of prestigious families were used to arrange marriages for their descendants, ensuring the safe flow of money and safety of the assets through their partnerships. Business and marriages weren't separated whatsoever.
