What Happens in Chapter 48 – From the Book Five Lost Angels: My Husband's Fatal Deception
Dive into Chapter 48, a pivotal chapter in Five Lost Angels: My Husband's Fatal Deception, written by Cassila K. This section features emotional turning points, key character decisions, and the kind of storytelling that defines great Internet fiction.
“The gang that kidnapped you often live stream on an illegal website, burning people or animals to satisfy their twisted arsonist tendencies, Miss Becker.
It’s difficult to catch these people in the act as the dark web has many security features. We are thankful for your help tonight.”
The officer praised me for my fearlessness and the ability to navigate through tough times, claiming that I was an iron lady with full command of her emotions. I simply stayed silent to hear his admiration, as only I knew how much I was scared. But all ended well, that was the only thing that mattered.
Then the officer elaborated on my case exclusively, he revealed a terrifying truth.
“It’s true that these live streamers earn black money through the dark web, but they have a special request system for earning as well. They are paid to pick specific targets for such videos.
And according to a goon’s confession, you are one of them, Miss Becker.”
The air crackled with tension as a series of startled gasps echoed in the room, I felt a cold pit in my stomach to hear about the real deal. I was suspicious of my kidnapping, but due to my recent arrival, it looked like money-related stuff.
However, it turned out to be a well-planned crime, which targeted me directly. Although Henry asked the police officers for more details about the mastermind of this plan, my mind was stuck at my short enemy list.
Firstly, I considered Leo, as he selected that restaurant for dinner, and only he knew about our meeting. But his involvement in this case didn’t make any sense. We had just started working together, and there was no reason for him to kill his business partner, who was his free ticket to success in the business community.
Then my mind drifted towards my backstabber ex-friend, Melody. She brutally tortured me before, it was in her capabilities to harm me like this. But this idea was rejected by solid reasoning: Melody was in jail. And no one would help her to plan a crime there.
So, that last option left was the business rivalry aka crocodiles of the Lakon city, they must have disliked a new rival right in the hockey season. And Leo was signed with my company, this business partnership had upset many people.
It could be a business-related vendetta!
Everything was fine now, the officers assured us of capturing the culprit as soon as possible, and all that. But what caught my attention was the location of this rundown building, as an officer said,
“The nearby forest has some wild animals in it. So, we’ll leave after escorting you out, Miss Becker.”
The forest of Lakon city?
Bloody hell!
That was the same forest in the suburbs of the city where, a few years ago, I was found half-dead after Melody’s torture. The location of the crime scene added another similarity between these two incidents, complicating the matter even more.
This was truly a worrisome situation!
As we were done, Henry asked me to go back with him. The police officers also suggested that I should be cautious in the future. But as soon as we stepped outside, Henry’s cell phone rang, he appeared disturbed after attending the short call.
“Laura, there is an emergency meeting at work. My legal staff has jeopardized an overseas project.”
I asked him to relax and go to work, burdening him with my responsibility wasn’t my intention. Calling my driver for the ride was an option; however, I was interrupted by Leo.
“Let me drive you back, Miss Becker. Please don’t say no.”
He insisted on taking me back, and as the police officers were waiting for me to leave safely, I accepted Leo’s offer and went with him.
That rude hockey star instantly cleared my consciousness with his cold tone, I clenched my teeth as the mention of death refreshed my wounds. I had died once in such a miserable way that nothing was more horrifying than that. And what a coincidence, he was one of the reasons at that time.
Taking a deep breath, I counted to ten to discipline my mind, as this wasn’t a moment to be carried away by emotions. On the brighter side, I could be benefitted from Leo’s security guards. At least, they might give me some useful information about him.
So, I nodded in response,
“I would like to sign a contract with your security staff, Mr. Leo.”
...
After an eventful night, the sun rose from the east with new hopes. I felt much better after resting. In the afternoon, I was having lunch when Echo called me,
“Leo got approved for the ice hockey show, Laura.”
Her excited tone left me puzzled, as she spoke after a dramatic pause.
“Guess what, Laura?
Mr. Bright, the former hockey legend, is going to be there too!
And there will be a grand ice hockey party after the game!”
