Half a year later.

Atlantic City.

Quentin carefully held Zayn to his shoulders before pressing the elevator button.

The man leaned on his shoulder with a tight frown between his eyebrows and his palm on his stomach, trying to ease the physical discomfort he felt.

As Zayn's assistant, Quentin admitted that he was somewhat responsible for allowing Zayn to get this drunk. However in the past half a year, whenever Zayn came across any function with alcohol, Zayn would not reject anyone offering him a glass. Quentin could not even stop him.

After getting Zayn into the house, Quentin was already drenched in sweat. He then placed Zayn on the bed and stuffed the white pillow next to him. Only then did he carefully close the door behind him.

The first time Zayn was drunk, Quentin would worry that something might happen to him, so he stayed over to take care of him. As a result, Quentin realized that Zayn just slept soundly when he was drunk. The next day when Zayn woke up to see him there, Zayn looked so murderous that Quentin no longer dared to stay the night.

The man behind him hugged the white pillow in his arms and sniffed it. His thin lips parted slightly as he muttered something.

It was a soft murmur that no one could hear. "Wifey..."

The next morning, Quentin prepared a freshly pressed suit and breakfast for Zayn. When he opened the door, he was surprised to find Zayn awake and all washed up. He looked like the same vigorous President Guggenheim.

"Recently, Wilford Corporation has become quite menacing. There’s news that a new Interim President will be appointed soon. I heard it’s designated by the current head of the Wilfords. Should I do a background check on this person?"

The man's face was completely uninterested, so Quentin took the hint and shut his mouth.

After some thought, he changed the subject. "The search and rescue team..."

Once Quentin felt Zayn’s gaze, he sighed secretly and continued, “Still hasn’t found anything. If we continue this, we’ll be crossing international borders and will need further approval. The Old Master heard about this and said he would help take care of it, but he wants you to go back to the mansion.”

Ever since Lindsey’s accident, the old man's health started to deteriorate. He used to travel everywhere around the world, but now, he spent his days at the Guggenheim mansion alone because Lindsey was no longer there and Zayn never went back.

No one knew whether Zayn was trying to torment others or himself.

After a long time, the man's voice sounded, "Tell Grandpa that I’ll go back in a few days."

......

"It's so cold..."

Lindsey seemed to have fallen into the boundless dark ocean again. The icy seawater engulfed her whole body and there was nowhere to hide nor escape. The suffocating feeling grew heavier and heavier.

"Lindsey! Lindsey, wake up!" Allie Wilford's face was full of concern. She gently shook Lindsey in an attempt to wake her up.

Lindsey slowly opened her eyes. Her delicate little face was slightly pale as she asked, "Did I have a nightmare again?"

"Yeah..." Allie gently nodded. Ever since she met Lindsey, she would always be worried when Lindsey got her frequent nightmares, but Lindsey would always just smile and say it was fine. "Lindsey, we're here! The plane just landed."

Lindsey looked in the direction of Allie’s gaze and saw the familiar buildings in front of her. Her pupils contracted and the suffocating feeling clung to her again.

Compared to Lindsey, Allie Wilford was much more excited. “This is my first time coming to Atlantic City! You have to take me around. Big brother said he'll be here in a few days and Ginny will also be back soon. It’ll be so fun, I can’t wait!"

She was so happy that she did not notice Lindsey's expression next to her.

Lindsey looked at the scenery outside and suppressed the turbulent emotions in her heart, trying to regain her composure.

Lindsey treated Allie like a younger sister and would never let her know of her deal with Liam. When she was done with what needed to be done, Lindsey would also disappear from their lives.

Denarius Office.

"President, there’s a dinner party with Watson Corporation this evening at Westwing," Quentin informed Zayn of his itinerary in the evening.

During these six months, Zayn would personally attend all social engagements. Although it was good for the business, if this continued, Zayn’s body might not be able to take it any longer.

The man nodded and said, "Get Wesley to accompany me."

Quentin could not change Zayn's mind, so he obliged.

On the other side, Lindsey rested for a few hours and had slept off some of the fatigue from the long flight. She looked at the enthusiastic Allie and could not help but sigh. "How are you not tired?"

"How are you always tired?" Allie asked her back. "Look how long you've been sleeping!"

Ever since Lindsey regained consciousness, she found herself particularly sleepy. The doctor said it was because her bodily functions had not completely recovered.

"Let’s go! I've looked it up. There’s a restaurant called Westwing that’s quite famous in Atlantic City and you have to make reservations in advance. I've already made a reservation for 6:00 pm. Look, it's almost time!"

When they got into the car, Allie kept rushing the driver. Lindsey instantly became energized by Allie’s constant chirping. As Lindsey watched the scenery outside the window pass by in a blur, she suddenly felt a little envious of Allie’s innocence.

It was exactly 6:00 pm when their car stopped at Westwing. When Allie stepped out of the car, she was already amused by the architecture in front of her.

Finally, they got seated in a private room. Allie loved the decor so much that she even wanted to take a few with her.
