Chapter 131 There’s Nothing Between Us Anymore novel Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean

Allie Wilford swept a glance at the simply-decorated and somewhat empty apartment as she suppressed the contempt in her heart. She then dragged Lindsey to the couch and asked with concern, “Lindsey, I saw President Guggenheim earlier. Why would he be here?”

Lindsey was still thinking about what Zayn said earlier. She paused for a moment when she heard this, then said indifferently, "He was the one who was following us earlier. That was just a misunderstanding because he also lives here."

She did not want to say any more than she had to about Zayn.

"I saw that he lives right across from you, but didn’t you say that a family of three lives there?" Allie nosily asked Lindsey.

"I'm not sure. It seems like he just moved in."

Allie reached out to hold Lindsey's hand. "Lindsey, were you crying? What exactly is your relationship with him?"

"There’s nothing between us." Lindsey subconsciously denied it, but she saw the concern in Allie's eyes and let out a long sigh. Thinking that Allie could probably tell what was going on, she added, "Zayn Guggenheim and I...we..."

Lindsey thought about it for a moment, and surprisingly, she did not know how to describe their relationship.

She pondered a little more, then said, "We used to be married, but our relationship wasn’t great. Later, something happened and you guys saved me, so here I am!"

Allie's eyes widened in shock as she said, "Zayn Guggenheim’s your husband? So are you still together now?"

"There’s nothing between us anymore. I’ll get him to sign the divorce papers soon." Lindsey's face was cold.

Allie's face was crawling with questions. "Then was it Zayn who made you fall into the ocean? Did you come back to seek revenge on him?"

Unexpectedly, Lindsey shook her head. "I jumped in myself. Technically, someone else hurt me and Zayn doesn't owe me anything."

Lindsey actually had it all thought out, but...

“But I still hate him.” Lindsey suddenly lifted her eyes and smiled somewhat wistfully. "If he didn’t condone her behavior time and time again, I wouldn't have fallen into that woman's hands and wouldn’t have been driven to the wall. Who knows if he and that woman conspired for my death so they could finally be together?"

Lindsey said this indifferently, but this had been haunting her all along.

Although Lindsey did not mention who the woman was, a name still came to Allie's mind: Jenny Lenig.

Earlier, Zayn had also asked Lindsey if she wanted to see Jenny Lenig.

What kind of woman was this Jenny Lenig?

Allie felt like meeting her too.

She continued asking, “You said that your relationship wasn’t great before, so what’s he doing now?”

Lindsey gave her a look thinking that Allie had asked one too many questions tonight, but she still answered patiently, "He probably feels he hasn't tortured me enough and wants to continue humiliating me."

She neglected the few happy memories that the two of them had. In fact, if she were to think about it, there were not many days when she and Zayn had been harmonious.

The saying that memories were always beautified did not even make their miserable marriage any better.

"Okay. Let's stop thinking about such upsetting things. I'll go take a shower first, then we can sleep together," Allie said in a light voice. She finally got the answer she wanted and stopped asking questions.

Lindsey got up to get Allie a new towel and some toiletries.

After being interrupted by Allie, the "I love you" that kept resonating in Lindsey’s mind finally stopped disturbing her nerves.

When Allie went into the bathroom, Lindsey looked at the door and thought about the commotion she heard earlier.

Zayn really moved in across from her apartment. They were neighbors now.

What an irony.

Behind Lindsey, Allie said with a slight excitement, "Good morning!"

"Morning," Zayn said coldly, but his eyes were glued to Lindsey.

Lindsey was walking while talking on the phone. She looked serious and did not even glance at the man behind her. She walked into the elevator and pressed the close button.

Zayn did not follow her in and watched as the elevator doors slowly closed in front of his eyes, then waited for the next one.

After this encounter, Lindsey did not see Zayn again for several days.

Her revenge plan against Denarius had officially been put into motion.

The strength of Wilford Corporation was not comparable to Denarius, but Lindsey had been quietly preparing for a long time and had privately taken over a lot of Denarius’ businesses. Now, it was almost time to reel it in.

Denarius.

Quentin brought over the latest data and put it on the desk in front of Zayn. "We've lost almost $200 million this month and some of the quick-witted people are asking when did our company start becoming so charitable."

He said this jokingly, but Zayn simply ignored him. He picked up the paper on the desk and studied it carefully.

On it was a list of businesses that Wilford Corporation stole from Denarius over the past month.

Actually, Lindsey's team tried to do it discreetly, but Zayn's side noticed the signs almost immediately.

This kind of thing was not unprecedented in the past. Zayn would always retaliate as soon as possible and their opponent would always end up miserable. However, when it came to Lindsey, Quentin watched as Zayn remained unmoved when Denarius had lost millions.

Quentin even felt that Zayn was somewhat content in doing so.

It was truly hard to buy a woman’s heart.
