Lindsey had a muddled dream.

She was probably awakened by her deepest nightmare. Most of her dreams now had nothing to do with her memories of jumping into the ocean. Instead, they were all about chasing after Zayn.

In the dream, Zayn's face was drenched and Lindsey asked him, "Is it raining outside?"

Zayn did not speak. His eyes were red and seemed to be dripping blood in the next second. He suddenly walked up to Lindsey and wiped his face, then held his hand out in front of Lindsey's eyes.

"Why did you kill our child?" Zayn’s clear voice echoed like it came from the future or an empty valley. Lindsey also saw what was in his hand. That was not rainwater. It was bright red blood.

Lindsey’s throat seemed to be clogged. She wanted to cry and scream, but no sound came out. In the end, she woke up startled and sat up in bed.

Only then did she find her voice again and let out a scream that pierced her eardrums.

The maid at the door immediately rushed in. "Ms. Juhl, are you alright?"

Lindsey gasped for air. The bright red blood on Zayn's palm in her dream seemed to be etched into her brain. It would not go away. His words, "why did you kill our child?", reverberated in her ears.

The sweat on her forehead traced down the corners of her eyes to her cheeks, looking like a teardrop.

"Ms. Juhl, would you like something to eat?" One of the kind-looking maids looked at Lindsey.

Lindsey shook her head. She did not have much appetite, but after a moment, she thought of something and forced out a smile. "Please bring me a lighter meal."

She realized that her throat hurt a little and her voice also cracked.

One of the two maids went to prepare food for her, while the other maid brought her a glass of water. They were both very quick and attentive.

Lindsey gulped down the glass of water. Once her dehydrated body was replenished, she felt much more comfortable and her mind was clearer.

"Where’s the Young Lady?" Lindsey looked at the sky outside. She had not slept long, so it should still be early.

There was no clock in her room and her phone was switched off. The bag Lindsey was carrying was nowhere to be found, so Lindsey asked, "Can you please get me a charger?"

The maid said, "Ms. Juhl, you can give me your phone. I'll send it back to you when it's charged. The Young Lady is busy settling some things at the moment. You should eat first."

The food was brought up just in time. In consideration of Lindsey's current condition, the meal was very light. There was no pungent or heavily spiced food, which was fitting for Lindsey.

The little thing in her womb was probably hungry, urging its mother to eat more, so Lindsey had a few more bites than usual.

Her stomach felt warm and those worries seemed to have faded.

At that moment, the "busy" Allie was stopping Shaun from barging into the house.

"You're lying." Shaun's mind had never been as sharp as today. Before this, he could not break through his heart’s desire and he was compelled by Allie's words. He actually believed that Allie was really doing it for Lindsey's well-being.

However, after experiencing so many things, he no longer trusted Allie Wilford’s excuses.

"You said you were doing it for Lindsey’s well-being, but when I told you that Lindsey’s missing, your first reaction was to deny it, not to ask me where she could’ve gone. Allie Wilford, I'll say it one last time. Hand her over now!"

Shaun's aura changed in an instant. When he was self-disciplined, he looked like a college student. However, once he revealed his decisiveness that he usually had on the job, even Allie felt that she had underestimated this man.

"How are you so sure that I took her?" Allie was still in denial. "Have you ever thought that Lindsey wanted to leave on her own? Shaun Juhl, the fact that you’re barging into my house so recklessly is certainly not just because you couldn’t reach her, right? What else have you heard?"

In the end, the smile on Allie's face faded and she even looked gloomy.

At that point, Allie was not doing this just because of her greed, but also because it was Liam’s order. That was why it was better if fewer people knew about the existence of this child.

As soon as she asked this, Shaun's expression changed subtly. Allie caught it and tensed up, so she decided to be frank. “You knew that Lindsey’s pregnant?”

Shaun did not answer her question. His tone was still demanding as he shouted, "Hand her over now!"

He was not comfortable with Allie and was afraid that she would do something to hurt Lindsey. Although the two of them were in a partnership, facing such a crisis now made the alliance between them precarious. Their cooperation would come to an end at any moment.
