Yvette gulped. The location on Shaun’s phone stopped here. She came with lone courage and when she saw the signboard with the white words, “Funeral Home”, she could not help but feel tense.

She was still terrified.

Yvette peeked through the small gap in the door to see what was inside. It was dark, aside from a dim light coming from the innermost area.

The headlights behind her were bright and Yvette settled her heart before she pushed the door open. The old metal door made a raspy sound in the darkness.

......

Zayn kept looking at the watch on his wrist and said, "Hurry up!"

Soren floored the gas pedal and was driving as fast as he could.

Zayn suddenly thought of something and took out his phone to call Quentin. "Are you still at the port?"

The other side probably answered yes, so Zayn immediately continued, "Send more people over. Check everyone thoroughly. It’s likely that they escape through a boat and will probably send Lindsey away tonight."

Quentin’s face was solemn. "Yes, sir. You can rest assured!"

"Quentin, I’m counting on you," Zayn suddenly said in a deep voice.

Quentin froze, and even Soren glanced at Zayn, but after saying this, the man's face returned to normal.

The people in the vicinity of eastern suburbs had already rushed over, but no news came through. The airport and the psychiatric hospital were at opposite ends of the city, so it would take a while to get there.

Yvette walked inside with small steps. She turned off her flashlight and walked straight towards the faint light source.

She was initially terrified, but after she walked in, it did not seem so frightening. Since she was already here, she must find out if Shaun was really here, else she would never just leave like that.

Yvette just kept chanting, "Oh Lord, give me strength..."

She was getting closer to the faint light source.

Once she walked in, she could smell blood in the air.

The smell seemed to be coming from the small room, so Yvette turned on her flashlight and swept around the outside of the room, but did not find anything. Thus, she had no choice but to go into that small room.

Only after going in did she realize that the faint light emitted was actually from a small electric heater.

The warm orange light lit the room just enough that Yvette could see the person lying in the corner on the ground.

Yvette almost screamed, but she hastily covered her mouth and subconsciously took several steps back.

She then shone the flashlight on the man’s body.

The bloodied face nearly made Yvette scream again, but when she saw the clothes that were on the unconscious person, Yvette suddenly stopped in her tracks and her eyes widened in horror.

Yvette could recognize all of Shaun's belongings because she used to treat them like treasure, so she instantly recognized that these clothes were what Shaun wore earlier today, even though it was so dirty that it was impossible to see its original color.

"Shaun?!"

When she did all this, she was incredibly calm, but she felt wooden and numb.

The siren in the car kept ringing, but Yvette acted like she had just heard it and reached out to turn it off. She then said in a tender voice to the man beside her, "Sorry, Shaun, I forgot to turn it off. I know it must be bothering you."

With the siren turned off, the other sounds in this small space became extraordinarily obvious.

After ringing three times, Yvette seemed to hear her phone and picked it up while driving.

Once the call was connected, Callum’s anxious voice blared out from the other end, “Yvette Wendell! Do you have a death wish? I just called Anette, but she said that she didn't even ask you out. Where the hell have you been? Hurry up and come home."

Yvette froze. When she heard her brother’s voice, the calmness on her face suddenly fell apart in an instant, and tears slowly built up in her eyes. Her eyes were blurry and her lips were trembling.

Callum looked at the phone and thought, ‘It’s still connected...why isn’t she speaking?’ He instantly became worried and unconsciously softened his voice. "Just hurry back and I won’t blame you for lying..."

A sudden loud cry interrupted Callum's words.

"To me about this..." Callum finished his sentence and froze for a second before he realized that Yvette was crying. He became more serious, but still had a soothing voice as he said, "Yvette, can you hear me? Yvette? What's wrong? I’m right here, talk to me. Yvette, are you okay?"

Callum was so anxious that he felt like his heart was burning and talked to Yvette as if she was still the eight or nine-year-old girl in his heart.

Yvette heard the familiar voice and all the emotions in her chest suddenly gushed out like a volcanic eruption.

"Brother...brother...I...he...he's dying...please come save him...please save him, okay?"

She could barely finish her sentence. On the other side, Callum was already walking out the door and had a serious look on his face. "Who’s dying? Yvette, where are you?"
